Together, Making A Difference

This past month, Whidbey Community Foundation's Board & Staff came together at the Pacific Rim Institute in Coupeville for a full-day retreat. We reflected on our organization's accomplishments, where we can improve, and our vision for the next 3 years. It was an energizing day, with big-picture thinking about the ways philanthropy and our community can realize a thriving and resilient island, now and into the future. We are excited to share with you our Strategic Plan in the coming months!

In the meantime, we are gearing up for some of our year-end activities. WCF is finalizing our Annual Grant Cycle review and we will soon launch this year's new Holiday Sculpture, an annual collaboration with Georgia Gerber and Randy Hudson. Stay tuned!

In partnership,
Jessie Gunn, Executive Director
Thank you to the Pacific Rim Institute for continued use of their beautiful Granary Room which is available for rent.
Center for Rest & Restoration Awarded Community Learning Grant from Group Health Foundation

Congratulations to the Center for Rest & Restoration, one of 79 organizations from across Washington that will each receive up to $225,000 in core funding over the next 3 years from Group Health Foundation.

The Center for Rest & Restoration is a newly formed organization, led by and for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) living on South Whidbey. Their mission is to center their energy, attention, and resources on BIPOC joy, safety, healing, and liberation, nurturing a thriving community connected to each other and connected to our empowerment. The Center for Rest & Restoration is a charitable program fiscally sponsored by the Whidbey Community Foundation.
We would also like to congratulate the Whidbey Homeless Coalition on their Community Learning Grant as well. Whidbey Homeless Coalition is a smaller homeless-focused organization meeting needs across Whidbey Island where services require significant additional work and consideration. They have an analysis of systems that is beyond a typical service-only organization and are building a system to eliminate the significant barriers experienced by homeless folks in rural areas.
We did it, Whidbey!

Thanks to the incredibly generous donations of our community, WCF and Goosefoot met and surpassed our goal by raising $125,195.06 to keep our neighbors housed, keep them working and help them through emergency.

Whether you donated directly, rounded up at the The Goose Community Grocer, had a Cocktail for a Cause at Prima Bistro or Saltwater Fish House and Oyster Bar or just helped spread the word – we thank you for helping to support Whidbey residents through the 2nd Annual Fundraiser for the Essential Needs Program! Your donations support basic needs like child care subsidies, utilities, rental assistance and transportation costs, administered directly to local households by Opportunity Council- Island County Service Center.
