COUNCIL BUSINESS
The Council met on Tuesday November 9, 2021 and discussed the following:
  • A Proposed Budget for 2022. The Council held its second of two required public hearings regarding the budget and will adopt a final version by ordinance at the December 2021 meeting.
  • Ordinance 455 setting the Property Tax Levy for 2022. The Council also held a public hearing on this topic. After considering the financial obligations to be met in the coming year and the limited revenue resources available, the Council determined that property taxes must be increased for 2022.
  • Updates on the Water Maintenance Shed project. The Council considered a bid to construct the expansion to the Water Maintenance Shed at a proposed cost of $77,665.50 as well as a change-order to replace the roof on the entire structure (new and existing) at a proposed additional cost of$4,900.50 and authorized the mayor to execute a contract for this construction. Town Engineer Stacia Schroeder will continue to oversee all three constructions contracts related to this project.
  • Opportunities for offering electronic billings and payments for water accounts. Elizabeth Leider has offered to help the Town upgrade the current billing system to allow customers to choose to receive bills by email or by US Mail. She is also helping the Town find a cost-effective method for processing online bill payments.
  • Submittal of the Town’s updated Comprehensive Emergency Management Program to the State for final review.
