Red Flags for Genetics Survey for Families
What is the survey about:

The goal of the survey is to capture the experience of families and parents with the early signs and symptoms (Red Flags) their children may have experienced on their journey before obtaining a genetic diagnosis. This information will be utilized to create educational materials for other families and providers.

Who Should Take This Survey: individuals or families impacted by genetic conditions

El objetivo de la encuesta es recopilar la experiencia de las familias y los padres con los primeros síntomas (señales de alerta) que sus hijos pueden haber demostrado antes de obtener un diagnóstico genético. Esta información se utilizará para crear materiales educativos para otras familias y proveedores.

Esta encuesta está diseñada pensando en una sola persona. Si tiene varios hijos o familiares afectados por condiciones genéticas, le pedimos que complete una encuesta por cada niño o individuo.
10th Annual Family Caregiver Conference - February 20, 2021

The 10th Annual Family Caregiver Conference will be held virtually on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is the first year the Family Caregiver Conference will be held virtually – this allows us to open the conference to family caregivers from all regions of Idaho. The theme for this year’s conference is Celebrating Resilience. This will be a day of celebration, education, support, and networking among family caregivers and care partners. The agenda features local experts who will present valuable information addressing caregiving across the lifespan.

CSI - College GPS Day- Feb 23, 2021

ITS TIME FOR COLLEGE GPS DAY 2021

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23 RD 9:00 AM 11:00 AM

We are thrilled to once again be able to invite students to College GPS Day 2021 presented by the Magic Valley Transition Team and the College of Southern Idaho!!
This year’s event will be presented virtually through Zoom and is open to any high school Juniors and Seniors on an IEP or 504 plan who would like to attend college. College GPS Day is an annual event that introduces students to navigating college and adult services/resources, including the process of requesting accommodations and the difference between high school and college accommodations. It also allows for college and career exploration through presentations from a variety of CSI advising services and degree programs.

The event is free to all qualified students. Educators, paraprofessionals, and parents are also welcome and encouraged to attend.
Please register for the event via Google forms on or before Friday, February 19th, 2021. Once we receive your registration, a confirmation email will be sent with a Zoom link.

The Magic Valley Transition team (MVTT) is a group of local stakeholders working on behalf of youth with disabilities and their families to increase transition opportunities and youth success. The team includes representatives from the College of Southern Idaho, the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Idaho Department of Labor, Living Independence Network, the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and the Blind, and local SPED directors and teachers. MVTT events are funded through small grants and the generosity of local agencies and sponsors.

Girl's letter to lawmaker leads to legislation for people with hearing loss
Ally Tumblin
Legislation being considered in Congress that would require insurance providers to cover hearing aid devices is the brainchild of a now 11-year-old girl.

Ally Tumblin, now a fifth-grade student in Colorado, was 9 years old and in third grade when she received a homework assignment to do something to better her community, with one option being to write a letter to an elected official about an important cause.
