Updates for March 19, 2020
UTSA is responding to the COVID-19 outbreak with a commitment to supporting the safety of the university community while enabling the academic progress of students.
CAMPUS OPERATIONS
  • LEARN THE LATEST: UTSA held a virtual town hall today to provide an update to students on its coronavirus response and to answer students’ questions. If you weren’t able to attend, you can watch the replay.

  • HOUSING REMINDER: UTSA is administering a survey to better understand the needs of students living in on-campus housing. Please check your email for the survey and complete it by tomorrow’s deadline. Questions? Reach out to studenthousing@utsa.edu.

  • REC CLOSURE: In response to guidance from government and health agencies, UTSA has closed all Campus Rec facilities. Please pick up your locker contents between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20. If you cannot retrieve your items, your locker rental will be extended into summer.
  • Complete a refund form to discontinue locker rental and submit to Lisa Jurgajtis
  • Downtown Campus locker questions? Contact Steve Kudika
  • General questions? Contact Burt Ferguson

  • SPRING BREAK ASSIGNMENTS: Per Provost Kimberly Andrews Espy’s email to faculty on March 11, “There should not be any required due dates for course work during this extended spring break week for students.” If you have an assignment due this week, please talk with your professor for an extension of the due date.

  • CHILD CARE: The Child Development Center is closed, effective March 19.
ONLINE LEARNING & ACCESS
  • STUDENT SUCCESS: UTSA is moving its Spring 2020 course instruction online beginning March 23. Students are invited to attend a virtual town hall from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20 to gain tips on how to succeed in online classes.

  • INTERNET ACCESS: Experiencing slower than usual internet speeds at home? Internet service providers (AT&T, Spectrum, etc.) are seeing an enormous increase in usage. Save work on your computer frequently and upload it during slower usage periods. You can also test your connection speed online with SpeedTest.

  • TECH TOOLS: Need to form online study groups, hold meetings or share documents? Review UTSA’s inventory of available Technology Resources for students and remember to contact 210-458-5555 for help if you need it.
HEALTH
  • FEELING ILL? If you have a fever and respiratory symptoms and have traveled internationally or come into contact with an individual known to have the novel coronavirus, call UTSA's Student Health Services triage nurse at 210-458-4142, menu option 3.
