Statement on U.S., Canada Halting Non-Essential and Non-Business Travel

EL PASO  - Jon Barela, CEO of The Borderplex Alliance, today released the following statement regarding the U.S. and Canadian governments announcing they would pause non-essential and non-business travel between the countries:

"Halting cross-border life will be painful. The alternative will be worse. Saving lives requires isolation and thus, reducing travel. As a community built on trade, we understand better than anyone that supply chains are the lifeline that keeps the economy moving. This deal allows for trade and commerce to continue while reducing public exposure to the virus. While not ideal, this agreement will ultimately help save lives and the economy."
