These last few months have been a challenging time of change for Hopalong
We are proud of the fact that during our office closure and community sheltering in place, we have worked hard to keep saving so many lives.
Our close relationships with shelters allowed us to change our strategy and usual pattern of operations. Many more dogs and cats were re-routed directly to us, bypassing shelters, and heading straight into our foster homes.
In addition, our staff have gotten immediate notifications of shelter arrivals, and we often retrieve them within the hour.
And of course, right in the middle of it all, kitten season started with an explosion of kittens hitting the shelters! We are sharing our guys here from their foster homes.
This big guy below arrived- all
140 pounds of him!
He covered half of sweet Alex, our Dog Program Manager!
And found big love from his foster mom!
We have dealt with life's changes quite seamlessly thanks to our amazing foster network, but it hasn't been easy given that the majority of our income has
been
cut by 75%
This coupled with the fact that we have had a much higher number of medical cases than usual requiring multiple
emergency visits has been rough.
This has been the most challenging part - surviving financially during this time.

So we are reaching out for support to get our next 150 animals sponsored for their medical needs and spay-neuter surgeries! We will have on average about 300 arrive in the next month alone.

Animals needing rescuing are still arriving, and they come from numerous counties, not just the Bay Area. Our extensive foster program means we can extend a helping hand further afield to those in need.
