Greetings Main Street Friends!
In recent e-newsletters, we have been looking at the Main Street Four-Point Approach™ that has communities generating a path that leads to revitalization of their downtown economies. After a path towards transformation is identified, the actual work should be organized around the Four Points: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion and Organization. This week, we will look at what is meant by Organization.
Organization includes strong leadership and community engagement. There should be diverse representation across all sectors and the activities that are implemented should be meaningful and sustainable. It is a multi-faceted approach that needs engagement, talents, and participation by many throughout the community.
The Main Street Program is not one-size-fits-all; it is critical that everyone understands that this Program is the launching of new ways of doing things and approaching challenges that thwart strong growth. The future builds and expands upon the foundation set forth at the start of the Program. It is critical to be organized with strong leaders who can coordinate activities, access progress, and keep motivation strong. Without structure to organize efforts, time and effort can be wasted and interest in the Program may diminish.
An incredible asset that Leadville has is the abundance of volunteers who are very generous with their time and talents. From a wide array of backgrounds and experience, individuals are quick to step up when there is work to be done and problems to be addressed With effective organization, Main Street Leadville will be a resounding success!
