If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD IS TOTALLY TRUTHFUL (Day 27)

Because GOD IS TOTALLY TRUTHFUL, He keeps all of His promises.

Preparation: This lesson is designed to help your children understand that the enemy (Satan) wants to plant a seed of doubt regarding God's truthfulness in our hearts. You may certainly use all of the following verses, but if there are too many, then focus on the one or two that you think are best for your child.

If you read a promise that some person makes, can you believe that he will always keep his promise? ( not necessarily). If you read a promise that God makes, can you believe that He will always keep His promise? ( yes)

God never breaks a promise! But the enemy of God (Satan) wants you to believe his lie instead of God's truth.

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
(Proverbs 30:5)
What do you think Satan's lie is? ( Satan's lie is that God won't come through on His promises, or that God breaks His promises, or that He doesn't always mean them.)

God gives us thousands of promises in the Bible. Let's look at some of them:

  • "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began." (Titus 1:2)

Here is one of many verses in the Bible that describe God's character as Totally Truthful; He cannot lie and always keeps His promises. What promise does God make in this verse? ( Eternal life is not something you have to wish can be yours; Eternal life is forever yours in Jesus. Your Eternal life is based upon God's promise and not your good deeds.)

What lie do you think Satan would want you and others to believe about Eternal life? ( That you have to earn Eternal life by doing good deeds, or that one day you might do something bad enough and lose your Eternal life.)

  • "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." (Proverbs 30:5)

What promise does God make in this verse? ( Everything God says is true.)
What lie would Satan want you to believe? ( Only some things that God says are true.)

  • "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

What promise does God make in this verse? ( God wants everyone to be saved.)
What lie would Satan want you to believe? ( God does not want you. You are not good enough; you have done too many bad things.)

  • "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:13)

What promise does God make in this verse? ( God will help you.)
What lie would Satan want you to believe? ( You should be afraid. God may or may help you; you cannot be sure.)

  • "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." (Psalm 32:8)

What promise does God make in this verse? ( God will guide you and watch over you.)
What lie would Satan want you to believe? ( God is too busy to help you. What makes you think you're so important that He'll take the time to care for you?)

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God is Totally Truthful, you can count on every promise He makes to be true.
Because God is Totally Truthful, you can ignore the lies that say otherwise.

TAKING ACTION:
Thank God that His promises are true and that you can count on them!

What promise from God are you the most thankful for today?

Thank Him for one promise that you are grateful for today. Ask Him to help you continue the fight against the lies of the enemy.

A Sample Prayer to Conclude Your Time
Dear God,
We praise You for being Truth in our lives. In a world of half-truths and lies, we thank You that Your Word can always be trusted. Forgive us when we fail to read Your Word and hear Your Truth. Help us to live Your truth and be truthful people. Give us courage to stand up for Your Word or stand up for what is True. Most importantly, open our eyes to see opportunities to share the Truth of the Gospel with others.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
