WHAT'S NEW
At this week's Monday City Council Meeting, Redwood City Public Library received the Redwood City 2020 "Welcoming Star" award for its Human Library program.

Welcoming Stars recognizes programs in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks that model a remarkable commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all who live, work, study, and visit in our community. Our Human Library is a place where real people, referred to as "Books", are on loan to members of our community, or "Readers." Books have included: a Veteran, Muslim, Transgender Person, Conservative, Recovered Addict, Developmentally Disabled, Police Officer, and more. These 20 minute one-on-one conversations aim to break down stereotypes and prejudices and celebrate the diversity within Redwood City and North Fair Oaks.

Thank you, Redwood City 2020 and Redwood City City Council for this honor. We can't wait to offer more Human Libraries!

To hear the award ceremony at the City Council meeting, you can view it here (the award takes place at the 6:00 minute mark).
