Thank You Women’s Guild!

On Wednesday, May 27, Henrietta Black, President of the Women’s Guild, along with her Board of Officers met with me in the STM Parking Lot.

We all were masked and spatially distant from each other, in the event you were wondering!

It was there that I was presented with a check for $20,000 for our Parish. It was the net proceeds from their fundraising activities for this year.

What an amazing amount…especially in light of their curtailed fundraising efforts because of the pandemic.

Can you only imagine if the year was able to continue as planned!

Needless to say, I was “tickled pink” with the amount that was given to the Parish.

My directive from Henri and the Board was that this donation should be used as needed for the Parish especially in light of the challenges the Parish is facing during these difficult days.

Women of the Guild, thank you for the trust you extend to me and to our Business Manager/Director of Development, Ron Briseno, as to how these funds are to be directed!

The donations of the Women’s Guild were recently reviewed.

Since its beginning in 1989 and until today, the Women’s Guild has financially supported STM to the tune of $350,000!!

Each year when I meet with the Women for their Installation of Officers and for the opportunity to receive their donation for that year’s fundraising, the core of my talk to them is the same:

“Ladies, you are no fuss, no muss…you go about your activities…you are highly organized…you create so many fundraising activities and you have great fun along the way…it really is not fund-raising…it is fun-raising…you let me know when and where you need me…and you place those events on my calendar…you support me and do not burden me…what you do just ‘shouts’ the commitment you have to St. Thomas More Parish…you are so totally supportive of the Pastor and the Parish Staff…I think we have a ‘love fest’ happening…also you are so supportive of all the Parish women and you create so many opportunities for ways in which the women of the Parish can support and network with each other…Thank You…Thank You…Thank You!”

I think that my great love and support for the Women of the Guild was demonstrated at their last fun-raiser, “Pretty in Pink.” I wore pink pants, but I will save that story for another time!

Again, to Henri Black and her Board of Officers thank you for another great year.

For all that has been “Thank you!” For all that will be “Yes!”
