Monday Motivation - more outdoor, family fun is back!
City of Monterey Parks and Recreation is working hard for you! Dennis the Menace Playground will reopen on Tuesday, April 20! Open hours are 10:00 a.m. to sunset, Tuesday through Sunday, and 1:00 p.m. to sunset on Mondays. Covid-19 safety precautions will be in place. Read the emergency order and news release for details.
Basketball courts opened on Friday, and picnic areas and barbecue pits for group use open Thursday, April 15 by use permit only. Permit applications are available online at https://monterey.org/Services/Parks-and-Beaches/Group-BBQ-Reservations.
ECHO Housing offering FREE Tester Training, Wed., May 13, to help uncover housing discrimination
ECHO Housing will be offering a free training on Wednesday, May 13 for those interested in assisting them to uncover housing discrimination in the Bay Area and Monterey County. Testers are trained to pose as home seekers, collect information, and report to staff about their experiences. This work is on a part-time, temporary, as needed basis. Covid-19 -vs- Allergies
Spring is in the air. Both seasonal allergies and COVID-19 can cause cough, fatigue, and headache, but fever and chills are more common with COVID-19. Use this chart to learn more similarities and differences between COVID-19 and allergies.
FREE Covid-19 Testing for this week
  • Testing helps to save lives and livelihoods: reduces transmission; breaks the chain of infection; improved targeting and monitoring of Covid-19 strategy, surveillance.
  • Testing and vaccinations are complimentary strategies (not an either-or scenario)
  • Testing is still needed to protect against new variants, reinfection, and as a tool to help manage reopening.

Vaccination 4-1-1 - Starting April 15, young adults ages 16+ can be vaccinated!
All-In Monterey County partnered with CAPrx to make vaccinations available to MPUSD students 16 years & older at Seaside High on April 14 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Parents can speak directly to a pharmacist and address any concerns. Parent consent form required. See the MPUSD Facebook page for more information.
