ARTICLE OF THE MONTH: Young Boy Bombards Electricians Working at His House With Questions – So, They Send Him a Payslip
A little boy’s mother thought her son must be annoying the employees who came to work on her house, but instead, they loved him.
Parents often try to raise their kids with good morals, including hard work. They assign their
children chores and encourage their teenagers to get a job in order to instill this value.
One mother must have done a particularly good job because her little boy not only learned to help his family around the house, but also helped the electricians that came by.
Laura-Nicole Anderson had hired Seytons Electrical to help her fix electrical problems around the house. Laura-Nicole’s son, Theo, took immediate interest in them. When Theo met the electricians, he asked them question after question, trying to understand what they were doing in his house.
Laura-Nicole believed that the electricians would be relieved when they finished their work so they could finally get away from the little boy who asked so many questions and tried to get involved.
As we head into fall, we are reaching the end of your first year in the Transportation Leadership Program. I have enjoyed meeting with the cohort members to discuss their capstone project ideas and working with several of you who are well into your projects.
If you are still considering ideas for your project, this edition of the Leadership Lessons highlights the value of leaders as teachers and mentors to new members of the public works community, maybe providing you with an idea or two for your project?
During our TLP Kickoff, we offered the following piece of advice that I will share again today, “Don’t wait until the last minute to begin working on your project; guaranteed it will be much harder on you than us.”
As I have said in the past, I am happy to meet with any member of the cohort to assist you in developing your final concept and to provide topic approval.
Warm regards,
Donna Shea
