Dear MS Parents,

We are excited that our 7th and 8th graders will join our 5th and 6th graders for on-campus hybrid learning next Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27. Cohort 1 will learn in school on Monday and Thursday and at home on Tuesday and Friday. Cohort 2 will learn at home on Monday and Thursday and in school on Tuesday and Friday. Here are the calendars for cohort 1 and cohort 2.

In anticipation of this, we want to update all MS families of what to expect beginning next week.

Arrival on Campus
Student safety is our #1 priority during carpool drop off and pick up! Always give the carpool staff 100% of your attention and follow their directions at all times when in carpool. There will be a heavier volume of cars on campus for both MS and HS carpool. We can expect carpool to take more time than usual even with only half the students attending in-school. Please plan accordingly.

In addition, be aware there have been adjustments made to the carpool process since last year; please familiarize yourself with the carpool maps so you understand the flow. Click here for the map if you are dropping off/picking up ONLY a MS student.

If you are dropping off/picking up BOTH a MS and HS student, you may efficiently drop BOTH students off at the HS, but NOT before 7:30AM. Once your MS student exits your vehicle (make sure they are wearing their mask!) they will follow the sidewalk to the campus crosswalk (see map) and be escorted across the main campus drive by a staff member. Parents CANNOT drop off their MS student at the HS prior to 7:30AM as we do not have supervision for our MS students prior to that. If you have a circumstance that requires you to drop your MS student off directly at the MS (i.e., your child has an injury, is carrying a heavy project, etc.) you will need to drop off your HS student (anytime after 7:15AM), exit our campus following our carpool route through Verhoeff Drive exit, return to our campus using the Verhoeff Drive entrance and follow the normal MS carpool route. We ask all drivers to use extra patience while everyone adjusts to these changes.
Morning Carpool and Attestation Questions
Middle school carpool begins at 7:30AM and students may not be dropped off before that time. Once your child exits their vehicle, they will have their temperature taken prior to entering the building. To expedite the necessary COVID-19 health screenings in the morning, please complete this form, answering the attestation questions every morning prior to dropping your child off at school. You may wish to bookmark this QR code in your phone or save it in your car to expedite the process.

Be sure your child is wearing a mask prior to exiting your vehicle. While waiting to have their temperature taken, students will remain socially distanced. Once your student registers an acceptable temperature, they will go directly to their first period class. It is important that you answer the attestation questions completely and honestly in accordance with the LNC Honor Code signed by all LNC stakeholders. Temperature taking and answering the attestation questions are part of the LNC health and safety protocols that are in place to protect students, parents, teachers and staff. Information on our Health and Safety Protocols, the FAQ and the LNC Dashboard are available on our COVID-19 page.

Afternoon Carpool
Again this year, the MS will utilize the PikMyKid app, which will help maximize carpool safety and efficiency as you are picking your child up in the afternoon. PikMyKid will be more helpful than ever this year as the carpool process has grown more complex due to different procedures in place to keep our community safe. Please note, PikMyKid is used only at the middle school.

  • If you have a returning MS student and are familiar with PikMyKid, please click here.

  • If your family is new to the middle school, please click here.

If you have questions or need assistance with the PikMyKid app, please email support@pikmykid.com. If you have questions about the MS carpool process, please email Mr. Bauer at bbauer@lncharter.org.

MS Bell Schedule
School begins at 8:00AM and dismisses at 2:00PM. Students will follow the hybrid learning bell schedules for their grade:
5th grade                                                          7th grade
6th grade                                                          8th grade

PTO Lunches
The PTO offers students the opportunity to order hot lunches on a prepaid ordering basis. Lunch orders are placed at www.orgsonline.com. For families new to LNC, here are instructions for setting up an account and placing an order. Returning families should click here for links and quick reminders about the process.

For this ordering period, lunches will be delivered to students between November 9 and 23 and orders must be placed by 11:59PM on Monday, October 26.

LNC Volunteers
The school is having only essential volunteers assist with the lunch program. If that changes and more volunteers are needed, information will be posted to the LNC2MSP Schoology group. Understanding volunteer opportunities are limited this first semester, we are reducing the Serve10 expectation (every family is asked to volunteer at least 10 hours per year at LNC) for our families from 10 hours to 5 hours. We will revisit that expectation in January.
We look forward to seeing our MS students on Monday and Tuesday, Pease remember if your student is not feeling well, they should stay home. It is up to each of us to work together to keep our community safe.
