Important updates for you today!
PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff Event
Current information indicates de-energization may be pushed back from 4 p.m. to around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. Re-energization will now occur on Tuesday, instead of Wednesday.
Each location will have snacks, water, device charging, ADA-accessible restroom and washing station, small medical device charging, and Wi-Fi.
The Lafayette Police Department will have device charging only available in front of the PD at 3471 Mt. Diablo Blvd. Charging will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lafayette PD will be providing generator power to several key intersections during this PSPS event to allow for fully functional signal operation. Temporary stop signs and cones will be set up at other intersections. City of Lafayette Public Works will have staff on-duty 24/7 to assist the Police Department with any hazards that arise during the PSPS event. During a power outage, any traffic signals that are not operational should be treated as a four-way stop.

Supervisor Candace Andersen: October 23, 2020 Weekly Update
This past Tuesday we were hopeful that the county’s indicators would continue to qualify us for entering the orange tier soon. On Tuesday, October 20, the State reported that we had met the Orange Tier requirements for one week and if we did it for one more week, we could move into this next tier. However, our numbers of positive cases have since increased, so it may be a little longer before we can advance to the Orange Tier. Some communities, including Danville and Oakley, have seen a surprising trend upward in new cases which have contributed to this higher cases per 100,000 number. Know the guidelines for your industry >>

Distinguished Speaker Series Presents Jess Walter: The Cold Millions
Monday, November 9, 4:00 - 5:00 PM via Zoom
Don’t miss this special opportunity to meet award-winning author Jess Walter as he discusses his highly anticipated new novel, The Cold Millions, described as a "literary miracle" (NPR). Set against the panoramic backdrop of an early 20th century America that eerily echoes our own time, it offers a stunning, kaleidoscopic portrait of a nation grappling with the chasm between rich and poor, between harsh realities and simple dreams. It is a powerful and moving tour de force from a "writer who has planted himself firmly in the first rank of American authors" (Boston Globe).
Walter is the author of six novels including Beautiful Ruins, a #1 New York Times bestseller that spent more than a year on the bestseller list. For a sneak peek at The Cold Millions, check out this brief video trailer from the author himself!
