Dear Colleagues:
Friday afternoon, Governor Kay Ivey issued a statewide stay-at-home order effective Saturday at 5:00 PM through at least April 30. This order requires the public to remain at his or her place of residence unless performing essential activities. Out of concern for the safety of employees and their families, we have been practicing these very principles for the past two weeks, ensuring staff who can work from home are able to do so.
Going forward, we will continue this practice by asking only the employees deemed essential to work on campus.
All employees should work from home unless the vice president for your area deems your role essential to the current operations of the University or it is not feasible for you to work from home.
For the employees working on campus, it is imperative to maintain proper social distancing protocols, ensuring a minimum six-foot distance between others and limiting groups to fewer than ten people.
Per the governor's stay-at-home order, you are allowed to travel to campus for essential work activities or to pick up materials to enable you to work from home. I also strongly encourage you to follow the order's guidelines on non-work activities, using good judgment and staying at home as much as possible.
