Nothing Except...

Hello friends.

I have a deeply held belief that scripture is alive and active.

Hebrews 4:12 exhorts us..
12 For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The Bible is divinely inspired and able to speak to a thousand generations and beyond. Both Exodus 20:6 and Deuteronomy 7:9 remind us that God keeps His covenant with us to love us and show mercy towards us.

God only asks that we will trust His love and respond in faithful obedience. It is through scripture that God reveals Himself. It is also through scripture that we discover ourselves both as we are and who we are called to be.

As we journey together. We get to discover what it means to be a covenant people who await the return of Christ. We discover what it means to be faithful stewards of our spiritual gifts and spiritual callings. We do this best in community and through reading God’s Word. That is why we dedicate this time to commit to read scripture together and see what God has to say to us collectively and individually.

God has set us together to commune with Him, each other and creation. I invite you to listen to So Will I by Hillsong. The song can be found easily on YouTube.

So this Advent, let’s commit to “nothing except” staying in community and in fellowship with the body of Christ so we don’t forget we were made to love, to be loved and to worship our God.

Imagine what would happen if we decided that Advent season never ended. Imagine if we lived as loved people who could love a perishing world enough to tell it about the life that we have found in Christ.

Because Christ is faithful, so will I.
