Reclaim Our Vote - Combating Voter Suppression

The voting rights of people of color are under assault in many states. Each election, millions of Americans are prevented from voting due to the restrictions in the voter registration process, voter ID laws, voter roll purges, and elimination of polling places. Voter suppression undermines our democracy, which requires the full participation of all citizens.
We have a responsibility to ensure that every voice is heard and every vote is counted in the upcoming elections. Join Temple Israel’s Racial Justice Initiative in partnering with the Center for Common Ground’s Reclaim Our Vote campaign as we fight for our democracy in this non-partisan civic engagement campaign. We invite you to participate in our campaign launch. We’re grateful to do this in partnership with the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Actions and the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.

With his unique perspective, Uri recognizes that this process includes building bridges and having the ability to inspire and to be inspired. He will be teaching a

A way to remember a loved one is to dedicate a memorial plaque in his or her memory. Once a plaque is ordered, Temple Israel will perpetually read the name of the deceased during Shabbat services on Friday evening and Saturday morning of the anniversary of death. A contribution of $650 to the Temple Israel Endowment Fund will secure a plaque in either the Alcove or on the Menorah. For further information, please contact

Rules for Visiting by Jessica Francis Kane. In Rules for Visiting a prickly 40-year-old gardener uses a windfall to go on a journey of self-discovery while visiting four old friends. Both the protagonist and the reader will explore the importance of connection and friendship while illuminating the reality and myth of our memories. Though the book is humorous, the author takes a thoughtful look at friendships over time.
