Weekly Update
May 13, 2020
From the President's Office

Dear Families,

While these are unprecedented times we're experiencing, and our Brave Family is being challenged on so many levels, we believe that our faith and our fortitude as a community will see us through.
As we continue to support our students through this year, we are also planning for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The BBHS Administration works closely with the Advisory Board to develop plans to continue advancing as a school. One important component to this process includes reviewing feedback from our annual parent survey. In the Advisory Board section below, our Board Chair, Ursula Reutin, introduces the 2020 survey, and I want to encourage your participation.

This year, the survey will contain both questions specific to our response to the coronavirus and transition to remote learning, as well as questions we have been exploring over the past several years around our strategic plan. We hope the information collected in this year's survey can help us to better prepare for on-going challenges like the current global pandemic, as well as continue to move forward with improving our school as a place to work and learn.

As we build our plans for the future, we would be grateful for your feedback through the survey.

God Bless and Go Braves,

Tony DeSapio
President

ANNUAL SURVEY OF SCHOOL PARENTS
On behalf of the BBHS Advisory Board, and in collaboration with the BBHS Administration, we are asking for your help as we end the school year and prepare for the year ahead. The board is a consultative body whose mission is to advise and support the school administration. Our responsibilities include recommending policy, creating a plan and long-range goals for the school, proposing means to finance the school (including tuition and fundraising) and evaluating the school's progress and performance in pursuit of its mission.

Together with the BBHS Administration, we are conducting our annual survey of school parents to evaluate the past year and inform priorities for next year. Please take a few minutes of your time to provide your thoughts. The survey will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 22. Your input will be used in the board and administration's annual planning process and the results shared with key constituents in the fall.

Note: If you have issues accessing the survey link, please contact bbhsinfo@bishopblanchet.org for assistance.

Sincerely,

Ursula Reutin
Advisory Board Chair, BBHS  Parent '15 and '18

SERVICE ESSAYS DUE MAY 15
Service essays are due on Friday, May 15. All students must submit an essay to fully satisfy their service requirement for 2019-2020. Given the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, students with fewer than the minimum of 12 service hours have the option of submitting an alternate essay for service credit. BRAVES HELPING BRAVES - COLLEGE RESOURCE
Our Alumni network has come together virtually to support our current BBHS Juniors and Seniors navigating the college search and decision process, by making themselves available to answer questions about their college and university choices, majors and post BBHS experiences. BBHS Juniors and Seniors can access this database and reach out directly to alums. Many of the alums have written encouraging messages to the Class of 2020 and 2021; encourage your student to check it out. Do you have a recent Brave grad in your family that hasn't joined the database yet? They can click here to complete the short survey form. Thank you Brave Alums!

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS TO COLLEGES
T he graduate's final transcript will be sent to the "College Attending" that students have listed in Naviance. If plans change, seniors need to speak with their counselor immediately. Students may not submit enrollment deposits to more than one school. In compliance with NACAC best practices, BBHS will submit each student's final transcript to only one college.

HELPING YOUR GRAD TRANSITION TO COLLEGE
As your student moves on to their college campus at the end of the summer, there are many issues that will be important to consider during this significant life change. Take a look at some ways to support your student  here. Another great resource is  nakedroommate.com, with guides for both students and parents.
