Dear Families of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School,

This past Monday, I spent the day downtown with all the principals of the Archdiocese. As I attended this meeting, I was thinking that I am not sure our families are aware of the collaboration that occurs across the Archdiocese. It’s one of the many things that makes our community so special. St. Anthony of Padua belongs to the Cross Cohort which consists of schools similar to ours in size and demographics. Our Cross Cohort Sister schools are: Epiphany, Christ the Redeemer, St. Anne’s (Houston), St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Laurence, St. Michael, St. Theresa (Houston), St. Theresa (Sugarland), St. Thomas More, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Cecilia and Duchesne. As a group, we support each other, share ideas and network. When gathered with all the principals, we are able to learn from each other. This week, we explored ways to foster the mission of Catholic Identity among our staff, promote vocations, work to provide competitive salaries, increase individual student growth on the NWEA testing platform. These meetings occur most frequently for principals, but also are provided for assistant principals, nurses, counselors, religion coordinators, extended day programs and more. While I admit that I’m not usually too excited to make the long drive to Houston 😊, I am always grateful for the camaraderie and expertise of so many people in one space as we all work together for the promotion and growth of all Catholic Schools.

Only by His Grace,

Veronica Tucker

OCTOBER FAMILY ROSARY

The month of October is dedicated to the Rosary, and after the Mass, the Rosary is the most powerful prayer at our disposal. St. John Paul II often said that the Rosary is a prayer of peace, and he encouraged families to pray the Rosary together. Please sign up for a day that your family will pray the Rosary together.

STUDENT FLAG PARADE

International Day will take place on October 28, and will start with a Flag Parade, performed by some of our students, who will need to dress with typical costume or clothing from the country that they will represent. The parade will start at 8:05 AM, but kids participating will need to arrive at 7:30 AM, to have enough time to get changed and rehearse. We are limiting sign-ups to 12 families (2 families per continent listed below), because time is limited, therefore sign up will be on a first-come first-serve basis. 2022-2023 BASKETBALL COMMITMENT

St. Anthony needs to know how many student-athletes are interested in participating in Boys & Girls Basketball - 6th, 7th & 8th grades.

  • Practices will start the week of October 24.
  • The games will start mid-November and the season will run thru January.
  • Due to the anticipated number of teams – teams may be scheduled to practice in the evenings and possibly some Saturday mornings.

St. Anthony would like to have a Varsity, JV & C-Team team for both Boys & Girls Basketball. Parents, it is important for you and your student-athlete to review the commitment details, the SAOPCS Athletic Handbook, and decide if it is something that you can choose to commit to by Friday, Oct. 7, 2022. At that time, we can see where we are number wise and determine how teams St. Anthony will have.

All players MUST have a current Physical Exam on file BEFORE they will be able to participate. An athletics fee of $150.00 will be charged to your FACTS account.
