MARCH MADNESS: RESPONDING & CARING
Dear Mid-Peninsula Boys & Girls Club Community,

Rather than a feature on our postponed March Madness 3v3 basketball fundraiser, this is an update on the madness that March has brung to us. On March 14, 2020, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close all five of our clubhouses. Although our clubhouses are closed, we continue our important work to help over 2,000 low-income youth grow into caring, responsible, and productive citizens.
We are modeling the MPBGC character traits CARING, RESPONSIBLE, AND PRODUCTIVE:
  • Adjusting our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank. Rather than the community coming to the DeLue clubhouse, our staff dropped off over 8,370 lbs of food to over 140 families in Daly City and San Mateo

  • Contacting 400 families with personal phone calls.

  • Staffing the Bayshore School District’s Free Lunch Program to serve lunch to youth in the school district.

  • Cleaning our clubhouses so our kids have a spotless environment when they return.
  • Keeping all 39 of our Youth Development Professionals employed and focused on serving our kids.

  • Participating in 390 hours of online professional development.

  • Hosting online study groups with teen members so they can stay on top of their school work.

  • Giving out pantry staples - courtesy of Nob Hill Foods Redwood Shores - every Friday at the Dore Clubhouse.
2020 Census Art Contest Winners
After moving our Census 2020 Art Contest online , we counted all the votes and would like to congratulate the following students for winning the Mid-Peninsula Boys & Girls Club Census 2020 Art Contest.

Our kids are counting on you to heed their call to action. Please model caring, responsible, productive behavior and fill out the 2020 Census .

HOW YOU CAN HELP
We can’t do this work alone. We need YOUR support to make sure our staff can:

(1) continue to support our community virtually and through our food distribution activities, (2) prepare to support our kids who will need to catch up after being separated from their normal academic and social growth environments at our five clubhouses, and
(3) purchase and deliver critical technology to those of our kids with the greatest need.

Please keep the Mid-Peninsula Boys & Girls Club in mind when thinking of ways to give back to your community. Make a donation that not only supports the kids and clubhouses in your community today but that brightens their possibilities for success tomorrow.
Stay safe and miss you all,
Evan Jones
