PES Principal Message

10/29/20
Puster Families,

If you have not yet taken the opportunity to do so, please consider having your child and/or family write a note of thanks to your teachers. The Lovejoy Letter Campaign is absolutely one of the best traditions in Lovejoy! The notes your students write and give to our teachers mean more than any gift in the world. I still have every envelope full of notes given to me over the last 8 years. They truly remind us of our “why.” Students may drop their notes off in the tubs located outside the front and back entrance doors at Puster through November 13th.

As a reminder, our school start time is 7:55 a.m. Students who are not in their classrooms when the 7:55 bell rings will be counted tardy.

We hope you will join us for our Drive-Thru Ice Cream Social this evening! What better day than to get to wear your comfy pj’s all day, then be served ice cream by your teachers! You will find all of the times and details under “PTO News” below. I think we may even see a little sunshine by then. See you soon!

Have a wonderful, safe weekend!

Puster Proud,
Holly

Friday's theme is Don't Be Tricked...Drugs are No Treat!

At Puster, we know EVERY staff member goes above and beyond, though we may not always hear about it. Who are our unsung heroes? Has a Puster teacher or staff member gone above and beyond for your child/family? We want to hear about it! Parents, community members, staff members and students are welcome to share by clicking the link above.

This week we'd like to recognize the following staff members:
The parents and students in Mrs. Mayeur’s class want to say that she is AMAZING! She has fully embraced her virtual kindergarten friends and is providing a wonderful school experience for them each day. They are excited to see her every day because she is positive, energetic, supportive, encouraging, patient, flexible and kind. We love that she understands the importance of developing relationships within the virtual classroom and always seems to know how to make every day a perfect balance of learning and fun. We don’t know how she does it, but we appreciate her!
Tonya Malott goes above and beyond for our team by being proactive and super-prepared each week. She has her lesson plans ready to go early each week and is ready to share and do whatever it takes to make our team successful. She is a true Team Player!
Foundation for Lovejoy Schools
It’s not too late to give to the Annual Appeal campaign. Every gift makes an impact. Invest today in our students’ tomorrow.

Our goal is to raise $250,000 and have 40% community involvement. The students of Lovejoy ISD are touched by Foundation dollars in every school and grade throughout the district. Now, more than ever, they need our support to ensure no interruption to the Lovejoy standard of exceptional learning.

New this year, three giving options! Teacher Grant Fund, One Heart. One Lovejoy. Fund, or a 50/50 split. Visit our website today to learn more and donate!

Learning with Your Librarian
Hello Parents!

We have had a truly great week here at PES! This week our library lessons and they have been going so very well. It was a real joy to be able to get into classrooms and not only share lessons with the kids but to be able to get books into their hands. If your student is interested, there are some extension activities relating to our story this week that are posted in the library Seesaw.

For our next pick up day, students have the option to put a hold on a book via our Destiny Catalog system as well as request a librarian-selected book based on their interests. For books to be available for pick up they need to be requested prior to the Friday pick up day. Anything requested on or after the pick-up day will be prepared for the following week. Due to the fact that Mrs. Peabody and I will be in classrooms for most of the day, we have started placing the books in the front office on Friday mornings you can pick your books up there as well as return past books.

If you had requested a book via the form this week or last week, and you want an additional book next week, you will need to either resubmit the form or email me to let me know that you would like another book.

For more detailed information on how to complete these requests and to make sure there is a book available for you to pick up please review the following document.

Happy Reading,

School Dismissal Manager Fast Facts
Here are a few Fast Facts that you will need to know for getting started:
1.  Please use this website to log in to SDM at www.schooldismissalmanager.com. The initial login is best completed from a computer as opposed to your phone.
2.   The Parent Login area is found at the top right of the SDM homepage.
3.   When you log in for the first time, you will be required to change your password immediately.
4.   Please refer to the Parent Guide for Creating Exceptions for details on how to use the system.
5.   As you begin to use School Dismissal Manager, if you have questions, please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link found in the Parent login area at the top of the SDM homepage. Here, you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If your question remains unanswered after checking here, please contact the school office and we will be happy to assist you further.
6.   When you start to receive the email notifications of changes or cancellations that are made for your child, please keep in mind that hitting Reply or Reply All on those emails does not reply to the school. If you need to respond to a notification (i.e., to inform the school it is incorrect, provide additional details, etc.) please call the school directly and talk with someone in the office.
7.   Each school day, School Dismissal Manager will send a comprehensive dismissal report to the school immediately following the cut-off time, allowing administrators and staff to facilitate a smooth dismissal.

Thank you for using this tool to help us keep the dismissal process safe and orderly for all our students.

Athletic Ticket Sales for 2020-2021
There has been some confusion in regards to athletic ticket sales for this year. In the past all students and staff have been allowed in free to all athletic contests (with school ID).  Due to UIL covid-19 attendance capacity limitation regulations we are forced to charge for entrance to all athletic contests for all staff and students. The tickets sales assist the athletic department in keeping with the capacity limitations required of UIL athletics. Thank you for your understanding and supporting LISD athletics. --
