Northwest ISD is the 8th Fastest Growing School District in Texas |
Despite the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, demographic reports show that builders in the surrounding area are having a record year.
What does that mean for Northwest ISD? Demographers say that by the year 2026, the district’s enrollment will likely exceed 32,000 students, which is an increase of about 6,500 students.
Northwest ISD works with Templeton Demographics to plan for future growth, including where future schools could be constructed to serve families as home developments are built. Their expertise helps the district have the most effective plan to serve students and families as our district grows, said Tim McClure, assistant superintendent for facilities.
“We are dedicated to using taxpayer dollars wisely, so it’s critical that we know where new developments are being planned and when the houses are being constructed,” McClure said.

Board of Trustees to Discuss Attendance Boundary Changes at March 1 Workshop |
The NISD Board of Trustees will have a special-called board workshop to discuss attendance boundaries for 2021-2022. The school board will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1 via Zoom webinar.
The Board will review boundary recommendations presented on Feb. 8, feedback received from parents and community members, and give an opportunity for Public Participation.

NISD Maintenance, Technology Crews Repair Facilities Damaged by Flooding, Winter Storm |
More than half of NISD's schools sustained damage as a result of the weather challenges the region dealt with last week. The district had many classrooms with water damage from burst pipes, down servers due to water entry and hallways severely flooded, preventing access throughout many of our campuses. We could not have welcomed back our students this week had it not been for NISD's amazing maintenance, facilities and technology crews. These teams worked — and continue to work — non-stop over the past two weeks, while dealing with demands on a personal level within their own homes.
In addition, the Northwest ISD Education Foundation and ARAMARK teamed up to ensure nearly 1,000 meals were distributed last Friday. And hundreds of teachers and campus staff spent the last weekend and Monday cleaning up classrooms and preparing for students to return to our campuses this week.
Thank you for working tirelessly to make sure all of our NISD campuses were prepared for a safe return for our students and staff!

Pre-K Information for 2021-2022 School Year |
Northwest ISD offers pre-kindergarten for children who are:

Four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2021 and
- Live within NISD boundaries.
State-funded Pre-K is available at no charge for families who meet specific guidelines set by the state of Texas. For more information about the state-funded program, visit www.nisdtx.org/prek.
Tuition-based Pre-K is available for families who do not meet the qualifications for the state-funded program. The in-person half-day program is located on certain Northwest ISD campuses.
Spaces are limited for the tuition-based Pre-K program. Entries are chosen at random through a lottery process. Those chosen by lottery have the opportunity to register for Pre-K in April.
The lottery will open on Monday, March 1 at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 1. The lottery drawing will take place the week of April 5. To enter the lottery, visit www.nisdtx.org/tuitionprek.

Northwest ISD Juniors to Take SAT March 3 |
|
Northwest ISD will be administering the SAT on Wednesday, March 3. All juniors enrolled in high school will have the opportunity to take the standardized test throughout the school day.
College Board requires all SAT test takers to test in-person. Current NISD remote learners will test on their home campuses and appropriate transportation will be provided.
Seniors — including current in-person learners — will not be allowed on campus during the test administration day. On March 3, all NISD seniors will be engaged in remote learning activities — planned by the College and Career Readiness department — and additional updates regarding senior activities and expectations will be communicated by campus leadership.

Byron Nelson Basketball Advances to UIL Quarterfinal Round |

For the first time in eight years, the Byron Nelson boys’ varsity basketball team has advanced to the third round of the UIL 6A state playoffs.
Last night, the Bobcats defeated Abilene by a score of 64-48 and claimed the 6A Region I Area Championship.
Making the evening more memorable, Byron Nelson Head Coach Scott Curran, pictured with his wife, tallied his 400th career victory, becoming the first coach in Byron Nelson program history to achieve such a milestone.

Tickets Available for Eaton’s "Matilda: The Musical" |

V.R. Eaton High School will host performances of “Matilda: The Musical,” a retelling of Roald Dahl’s original sensation, daily through March 6. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the V.R. Eaton High School Performing Arts Center, with the exception of a Sunday, March 6 matinee beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Camp Invention Comes to NISD This Summer |
Camp Invention is a one-week summer program in which your child’s creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills are challenged and developed in fun and exciting ways. Our top priority is to inspire future innovators and build their confidence in the natural ability to dream and create.
Camp Invention is open to students in grades K-5. Middle school students are encouraged to enroll as Counselors-in-Training and high school students can apply to be Leadership Interns.
