CURRENT COMMUNITY MITIGATION LEVEL
SUBSTANTIAL TO SHELTER IN PLACE

The health, safety and welfare of our property owners, residents, employees, visitors and businesses are priority one for Hot Springs Village. We encourage social distancing or sheltering in place to prevent COVID19 from spreading in our community.

We also encourage supporting local businesses as can safely be achieved.  Several are offering delivery services, online services, gift certificates and other creative methods to serve their customers and we applaud their efforts.

We encourage you to visit our webpage  https://explorethevillage.com/members/hsv-covid-19/ that is being used to provide the latest updates, including closings and postponements.

We are also using these resources for mitigation planning:
How do Arkansas, and more specifically Saline and Garland Counties, score on our ability to social distance and flatten the curve?

What one non-essential activity can you eliminate today to keep yourself and your neighbors safe?

What can we learn from the Europeans about not going stir crazy in quarantines and lock down living?

Other states are issuing stay at home or sheltering in place orders. What does that mean?

Good Neighbors
Need help with shopping or know someone who needs help?  Mountainside United Methodist Church launched a Compassionate Shoppers initiative. Call the church office at 501-922-2626 for assistance.

Please email [email protected] to have your organization added to this list. For the safety of our members, we will only be highlighting established charitable or faith-based organizations within Hot Springs Village. However, we encourage all individuals to look for opportunities to help their neighbors and applaud those who are already doing so.

State of Arkansas
In his daily COVID-19 update, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that two more people have died from the virus, bringing the total to 10. There are 584 cases in Arkansas as of the time of the update. Of those, 56 are in hospitals and 25 are on ventilators.

Hutchinson announced that the state has entered into a partnership with Walmart and a testing facility to have a drive through testing site in Bentonville that's exclusive to first responders and health care workers.

State Parks will be switching to daytrip only and no overnight stays due to concerns of large groups and the sheer number of out-of-state visitors. Hutchinson said he also recommended to the Secretary of Interior that Buffalo National River be closed until the end of the crisis. He said that 60 percent of the visitors at the national river this weekend were from out of state.

POA Administration
In order to protect our members and staff, the POA Administration office is now closed to the public. We will conduct all business online, by phone, email or US Postal Service. There will no longer be any in-person appointments made at this time. We thank you for your understanding.

Guests of Members
Over the weekend, 163 visitors were logged into the gate, indicating there was no decrease in visitor activity since our last report of 150.  Given the number of surrounding states who have issued sheltering in place orders and national travel advisories related to hot spot states, we again encourage members to limit visitor access to essential activities through the month of April.  We are currently evaluating the temporary suspension of any recreational access for all non-members, including guests of members.

Scam Advisory
The Inspector General of Social Security, Gail S. Ennis, is warning the public about fraudulent letters threatening suspension of Social Security benefits due to COVID-19 or coronavirus-related office closures. The Social Security Administration (SSA) will not suspend or discontinue benefits because their offices are closed.

The Social Security Office of the Inspector General has received reports that Social Security beneficiaries have received letters through the U.S. Mail stating their payments will be suspended or discontinued unless they call a phone number referenced in the letter. Scammers may then mislead beneficiaries into providing personal information or payment via retail gift cards, wire transfers, internet currency, or by mailing cash, to maintain regular benefit payments during this period of COVID-19 office closures.

As of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, local SSA offices are closed to the public due to COVID-19 concerns; however, Social Security employees continue to work. Social Security will not suspend or decrease Social Security benefit payments or Supplemental Security Income payments due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Any communication you receive that says SSA will do so is a scam, whether you receive it by letter, text, email, or phone call.
