"I will not leave you orphaned," Jesus promises us in today's gospel. God is not some ruthless heavenly spectator judging us as on reality television, relishing our failures, wishing to exchange us for a better or more attractive child, no curmudgeonly "Daddy Warbucks" in the sky. Rather, God comes to love us in Jesus, singularly loving and accepting, seeking our trust, promising to be ever-present with us in the Holy Spirit. This Holy Advocate moves us even when we don't recognize its power, even when it seems "an unknown God" (Acts 17:23). Though we might battle an elemental loneliness, we have not been abandoned.
Many life experiences can leave us feeling orphaned or abandoned. Family can ease that feeling but also magnify it if our family relationships are strained or if our families live far away. Think of those in your congregation who count deployed soldiers among their loved ones, or construction workers and tradesmen who need to live in hotels far away from their families to keep making money for their families, and of us quarantined or with stay-at-home orders during this pandemic. The Internet, facetime, webcams, Skype, Zoom meetings and social networks can link people across the miles but can further aggravate loneliness and isolation when these substitute for real intimacy in our highly connected world. How do we experience this loneliness and this longing for home and belonging? How does Jesus' promise that he will not leave us orphaned speak to these real-life concerns?
When Jesus makes this string of promises in John 14, saying that he will remain with us in the Holy Spirit as our Advocate, it's hard to envision how this support comes to us sometimes. When we do not get to see, hug or hear those we love, the promise and presence of God always with us through the Word has great power. Even when life keeps delivering bad news about how far apart we are from another, how broken our relationships are, "I will not leave you orphaned" is the godly reassurance that we are not alone. [Sundays and Seasons, 2020]
Alleluia! Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Collect:
O
God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Church Gardens Need Watering
|
The gardens have been nurtured and planted. All that is needed now is watering and a little weeding. If you are able, would you please sign up to water a week or two this summer. The hoses will reach all beds except the front sign bed. A bucket will be made available for this watering. The front bed is new to the watering schedule this summer. The existing flowers were overgrown and required pulling and replanting. It will definitely need water. You can continue to physical distance while watering the gardens. Watering also provides a time of tranquility. Please contact Joanne Crowe (joannecrowe317@gmail.com) to add your name to the watering schedule.

FROM THE MUSIC CORNER by Holly Simons
|
May this find you well and.... SINGING! Ralph and I are "finding our way" into the world of "livestreaming on Facebook". We want to lift the value of finding your voice again with familiar and inspiring hymns of our faith. We sang two hymns of the faith for live video last Wednesday night, and hope to do this regularly as we're able.
You do NOT have to be a Facebook member to travel to Facebook Holly
and listen to this 10 minute broadcast (under the "Posts" section). Once it's recorded, you can access and listen to it anytime on our FB page. Let me know the favorite hymns you'd like sung.... and we'll put them in our "planner". This coming week (Wed night at 6:40pm), we hope to sing songs reminiscent of our Memorial Day celebrations - "Eternal Father Strong to Save", and "For all the saints". Ralph graciously puts up the words so you can sing along..... and DO try to open your mouth and your spirit to be lifted outward and upward.... refusing to get stuck in the temptation to collapse inward in despondency. Our God loves to hear us praise Him in the storm!
Singing with you forever, Holly and Ralph

Connect With God & With Others
|
"...have you ever found God in church? I never did. I just found a bunch of folks hoping for him to show. Any God I ever felt in church I brought in with me. And I think all the other folks did too. They come to church to share God, not find God." -Alice Walker
The church is where God's people-YOU-are. While we are in exile in our homes, we don't need to go to church to find God, because when we are church together on-line we share God. There are many ways to connect, to see, hear and share God online at All Saints'...

Not sure how to connect via Zoom?
During this time of disconnect due to Covid-19, All Saints' is utilizing Zoom for many gatherings.
From Sunday Virtual Coffee Hour, to Bible Studies, Zoom will allow our congregation to connect live and face-to-face, while following the social guidelines set in place by our government. Here are the steps for participating via computer or telephone:
- You will find a link to the event and an I.D. number and password. (Note: The FIRST time you open a Zoom link, it will prompt you to download the app. This is FREE. Please follow the instructions given to install.)
- Each Zoom event that you open will ask for the I.D. number and password.
- For any video/visual participation, you will need a camera either on your phone, or on your computer. If you do not have one, the invitation email you receive will provide instructions for calling in on your phone.
- We encourage participants to mute yourself unless you have an opportunity to speak. Household noises can often times be a distraction to others. If you would like to get your Zoom account set up ahead of time, visit https://zoom.us/.
Troubleshooting:
- If you log in and no one else is in the gathering, double check to make sure you have the right date and time; if you do, it's likely that you've clicked/entered the wrong link/address. Each meeting has its own link/address and only works for that gathering. Note: some gatherings use a "wait room" and the host will let you in.
- If you get connected but can't seem to connect audio, try using "chat" (link at the bottom of the screen) to ask for help.
- If you can only see one person, try clicking on the "speaker view" button on the top and switch it to "gallery view" to see all participants.
- If your internet connection fails and you get knocked off, simply join back in. It happens.
- If you're stuck, contact the event host/leader.

Thank You for Giving During This Time of Pandemic
|
Thank you for all who have continued to support the work of All Saints during this time. You may make contributions by mail, using your financial institution's automated check writing service, or secure online giving via Donate
Creator of all we enjoy, we give you thanks for the countless people you have gathered to do your work as All Saints' Wolfeboro. We thank you for your Holy Spirit inspiring some as they longed for this church, others as they built this church and still others as they lovingly and boldly led this church through times of abundance and times of scarcity. Help us to be bold as we model giving of time and money during this time. Make our generous giving a symbol of both our faith and our gratitude. We pray in the name of your son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
