Dear AJPM Reader,

April 2021 marks one year since the publication of AJPM's first article on COVID-19, which examined the novel coronavirus transmission in prisons. Since then, we have published nearly 50 articles on almost all aspects of the pandemic, from vaccine efficacy models to the influence of politics on COVID-19 preventive behaviors and deaths. Other papers have investigated the pandemic's impacts on mental health, food insecurity, suicidal ideation, alcohol consumption, cancer care, unhealthy food marketing to children, and more.

This last year was unprecedented in other ways, too: Like many journals, AJPM received a record number of manuscript submissions. The receipt of a 35-year high in submitted papers also created a tremendous need for more experts to provide peer review for these articles. As such, we thank the 1,768 peer reviewers who helped to keep AJPM going during 2020 with a special listing on our website. A select group of reviewers, identified by editors for particularly outstanding peer review efforts, is also acknowledged in the print issue.

We hope you find our April 2021 articles to be timely, topical and informative.

Yours in prevention and health,
