Around Our Y!
Meet Alyssa
Alyssa is a new Wellness Associate at our City Center branch. When asked about play, Alyssa says that it's very important to prioritize play in your life. This includes making time for fun time and trying new things. Alyssa immediately shared that she enjoys playing tennis!

Tips for Trying New Things:
  • Look online for groups on Social Media and for local events that spark your interest. Many events are now available virtually.
  • Utilize YouTube for how-to videos for beginners to help get started on your next hobby.
Beth's Lifestyle Prioritizes Play
Beth makes playtime apart of her everyday life including not only her hobbies, but her relationships too! She makes sure to spend time laughing with her husband everyday. "When we moved to Lititz I began noticing all the birds in our back yard. I started bird-watching and I love it! I've been learning about the many different species I see, and now I also enjoy photographing the birds. The variety of types, diversity in appearance, and how they each have their own personality are beautiful reminders and illustrations to me of God's creativity, artistry, and attention to detail." Beth also loves running and walking through Lititz. Alon or with her husband, Beth can be found walking around town for events, going to the park, and just enjoying being outside and on the move. There are also beautiful trails in the area!
Jane's Down Time
Jane enjoys reading and doing puzzles for fun at home! Puzzles are something that you can invite those in your household to do with you.
Lifeguards Having Fun
Our Lifeguard at the City Center branch, Evan, loves the great mix of professionalism and the upbeat community vibe at our Y. For fun, it's no surprise that he swims! "Our staff exercise challenges are competitive! I have a lot of fun with these challenges, and it brings me closer to my Team."
Workout Of The Day
Push Ups with Supers
Chase is one of our Members at our Lampeter- Strasburg Branch.
  • Begin in a push up position
  • Slowly bend at the elbows until you reach the floor
  • Extend the arms forward overhead and the legs backward
  • Lift the arms and legs at the same time reaching them away from each other and gently up
  • Bring your hands back to the sides of the ribs and push back up to the starting position
Alternating One- Legged Dead Lifts
  • Start standing with both feet on the floor hips- width distance apart. If you are using a weight place it in the hands centered in front of you
  • Keeping the right knee slightly bent to prevent injury, begin to lift the left heel and leg up behind you as you tilt the torso down
  • Keep the left leg and upper body on the same line by engaging the core and stop tilting when the leg and torso are horizontal with the floor
  • Use the same control to come back up to stand
  • Repeat on the other side

When in Doubt, Trust God

I was just thinking about my kids, and I found this verse:

Isaiah 40:30-31 KJV

“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
