Each event will be held in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. each night. Mid Penn Bank Visit
Mr. Rory Ritrievi P'16, '19, '23, CEO of Mid Penn Bank, visited with seniors and juniors in the auditorium this week (sophomores and freshmen watched via livestream) to talk about the importance of being an advocate in the community. He spoke specifically about the importance of philanthropy, both in business and as an individual. Mr. Ritrievi announced a $5,000 donation from the bank to Trinity's THON and also distributed gift cards and other wonderful items to the audience. Mid Penn Bank gives generously to our EITC program, which provides tuition assistance to our students. Thanks to Mr. Ritrievi for a wonderful talk and to Mid Penn Bank for their generosity!

In Case You Missed It

Final Examinations and Last Days of School
We are making a change to the timing and format of "final examinations" this year. Rather than the traditional two exams a day, covering the material taught in the second semester, teachers will be giving last tests of the school year. The material in that last test will include only material covered since the previous assessment.

This also means the June 1, 2, and 3 will now be full school days running from 8:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. Students will see all class periods all three days.
  • On June 1 the Social Studies and Foreign Language Departments will give their last tests when the students see those classes
  • On June 2 the English and Math Departments will give their last tests
  • On June 3 the Theology and Science Departments will give their last tests
These test grades will be included as the final grade of the fourth marking period. There will be no grades recorded in the final examination column. This will also change the calculation of the second semester and final average. For this year, semester one and now semester two averages will be calculated using 50% of each marking period
(Q1 + Q2) ÷ 2 = Mid-year Average (MAV)
(Q3 + Q4) ÷2 = Semester 2 Average (S2A)
(MAV + S2A) ÷ 2 = Final Average (FAV)

Friday, June 4 will remain the last day of school with an 11:45 a.m. dismissal time.

Senior Final Exams
Senior final exams will follow a similar format to the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Seniors will report to school on May 20, 21, and 24, to take the two tests per day during periods 1 and 2, the content of these tests will be just material covered since the previous assessment. These exams will be:
  • Thursday, May 20 - Social Studies, Foreign Language and Psychology
  • Friday, May 21 - English and Math
  • Monday, May 24 - Theology and Science
Students who have two of the same subject (i.e., two math or science classes) may need to remain in school for period 3 or 4 to complete their third test on that given day.

Baccalaureate and Graduation practices will be held each day after 2nd period, but seniors will be dismissed immediately after these practices, or at approximately 11:00 a.m. each day. Seniors who do not have a second exam on any given day are still expected to report to Baccalaureate and Graduation practices on time and in their school uniform.

Seniors--College Decisions
Seniors, please update your Naviance accounts with where you decide to go next year and where you were accepted, denied, or deferred. Please also report any scholarship amounts (for academics, sports, or otherwise) offered to you from schools to the Guidance Office by bringing your acceptance letters. We make copies and collect them for the total class scholarship announcement at graduation. Remember, please report all scholarships, whether you intend to attend the college or not.

Spiritual Reflections
from Deacon Scott Root
The Gospel for Sunday, April 25, 2021--4th Sunday of Easter
Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own.
I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."--John 10:11-18

Reflection: Faith is a Gift from God
Today's Gospel passage presents to us one of the deepest mysteries of the human spirit. Faith, the ability to hear and to follow a call, is a gift to Jesus and a gift to the followers of Jesus. Why are some capable of hearing that leads to faith? Why are some capable of recognizing the Father in the words of Jesus? The only answer presented is that faith is a gift. Our God and his Son are shepherds that care for us and know us and even love us in our stubbornness, deafness, and diffidence. Do we really rejoice in hearing the voice of the Good Shepherd?

Saint of the Week--Saint Catherine of Siena, April 29
Saint Catherine of Siena was a Third Order Dominican known for her contemplation and prayer--as well as her involvement in Church and civil affairs. During the time when there were two and three popes each claiming the papacy, Saint Catherine sided with Pope Urban VI. She was named a Doctor of the Church in 1970.

Prayer for the Week--Peace Prayer of Saint Francis
Faithful Shepherd, You are not a hireling who runs away at the sight of danger, but Your fidelity was tested and proven on the wood of the Cross. Accept the gift of our gratitude for Your marvelous care. Help us to hear and follow Your voice. Watchful Shepherd, who protects the flock and searches tirelessly for those who wander from the fold, retrieve the lost and bring them home. Tend and heal their wounds. Good Shepherd, who lays down His Life for His sheep, nourish Your people with the Bread of Life, that we may reflect Your likeness and enjoy the spring of Living Water that never ends. Amen.
