Safety Equipment 

Employee and Customer safety is on everyone's minds like never before with the current Covid-19 situation.  While we strongly advise following the orders of local health officials, we also recommend preparing for the end of the current social distancing approach.

Part of this will include a renewed focus on cleaning measures and other methods of avoiding illness.  Even once this is past, a flu or cold infection making the rounds among your staff can make an impact, and dealing with the public will always be higher risk.  Some measures that can help include wearing gloves while handling cash, avoiding touching your face, and frequently washing your hands.

One store fixture we recently got notification of is pictured below.  Available in three different styles, the Retail Guardiant can help protect your staff or you from a customer's random coughs or sneezes.  Obviously this is more suitable for our stores selling smaller products that can go through the window, but a scanner can reach through for any larger boxes.

Woo, Ecommerce

Currently in development, we are working on a new eCommerce integration for WooCommerce.  WooCommerce is the single most popular eCommerce platform, being a plugin for WordPress sites.  Our own shop utilizes it, if you would like to get a view of one possible look for a relatively low-item store.  You've almost certainly shopped from an online store that uses WooCommerce, as nearly thirty percent of online stores are using it, according to estimates.

The WooCommerce integration will be the first integration intended to work with the cloud version of the software.  This is going to offer some strong advantages over the current Store Server based integration, mostly allowing for quicker notifications of orders received and a tighter tie in to the WooCommerce platform than we have been able to achieve in the past.

Backoffice Website

Thank you to everyone for your feedback on the backoffice site!  While more features will be made available over time on this, the initial availability can go out to customers at this time.  For the moment, this does have some restrictions - you do have to be using a cloud server for the backoffice site to work, which as of this newsletter means that you cannot need a vendor database or eCommerce functionality.  As mentioned above, eCommerce functionality should be coming in the form of a WooCommerce integration soon, with vendor databases set to follow in the coming months.

If you are still interested in trying it out and giving feedback, we can still arrange that, simply contact support.

As a reminder, the backoffice will allow those who are on a cloud server to manage items, customers, and employees, view reports, change settings, and other back office or administrative tasks from devices with an internet connection.  This includes phones, tablets, or desktops, inside or out of the store.

The current version of the software, available for supported users, is 5.5.0.  To get back on support, or to upgrade to phone support from email support, contact sales at (919) 387-7597 x100.  If you are not on phone support, and you call, a response will be sent to the email address on file.  You can also buy a support incident from our website.

 

As a reminder to users of Windows 7, Microsoft's support of this version of Windows has ended as of January 14th, 2020.  We highly recommend getting onto Windows 8.1 or 10 if you are on Windows 7.  Versions of ExtremePOS, Musicware, Praiz, and ThunderPOS 4.0 and above should all be compatible with Windows 10; versions before 4.0 were sunset for support as of the end of 2019.
