Dear Students:

I hope you and your families are doing well. I am writing to update you on the class format for summer 2020 classes. With the Governor's order set to expire at 5:00 P.M. on May 22, 2020, it is our hope that students will be allowed to return to campus in the not-too-distant future. We have heard from many of our face-to-face students regarding their desire to return to campus, and we will only do so once the Governor has revised her order.

Summer 2020 classes will begin next week on May 18, 2020, in an online format through Blackboard or another electronic means of learning delivery . We hope to transition the courses originally scheduled as on-ground back to a face-to-face format as soon as we are able to do so.

We are actively planning for students' arrival back to campus. We have put in place a number of measures intended to keep everyone as safe as possible, including temperature screening at campus entrances, social-distancing protocols, and protective barriers in certain areas. More information will be provided about these practices as we plan for campus operations to resume.

If you have questions or need assistance during this time, we are here to help. Please feel free to reach out to us by email or give us a call at 256-233-8130. We can also meet virtually, as the campus remains closed to visitors.

We will keep the campus community informed as we move forward.

Thank you,
Philip K. Way, Ph.D.
