Pumpkin Carving & Sand Sculpting at Deer Park Town Center
Visit Deer Park Town Center any time from Saturday, Oct. 24-Oct. 31 to see their larger-than-life Sand Sculptures and festive Pumpkin Displays throughout the shopping center. The community is invited to see all three sand sculptures near Bath & Body Works, Anthropologie and in the Gazebo. These works of art are currently being created live on-site. Take a photo with one of the creations and post them to Instagram for a chance to win a $100 Deer Park Town Center shopping spree. Veteran's Weekend at SOUL Harbour Ranch Oct. 25
Veterans and military families are invited to "Veteran's Weekend at the Ranch" on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 10:30 am - noon at SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy, 22093 N. Countryside Ln. in Barrington. In addition to mini therapy horses, donkeys and therapy dogs, they will have a guest speaker. The Vets program is held the fourth Sunday of every month. Pet Costume Parade in Long Grove Oct. 25
Pets throughout the region are invited to don their best Halloween attire for the Third Annual Pet Costume Parade on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11:00 am in Historic Downtown Long Grove, 308 Old McHenry Rd. The event includes: Doggie Goodie Bags for participants, and gift baskets awarded to the Best Dressed, Looks Most Like Their Owner, Best Trick, and Judges’ Favorite. Zoom Workshop: Keeping Employees Safe During COVID
The Illinois SBDC at College of Lake County will present a live Zoom workshop on "How to Keep Your Employees Safe During COVID," on Wednesday Oct. 28, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The workship will cover communication and protective strategies for employers, COVID-related human resource policies, and employer and employee rights during a pandemic. Cost is $20. Rahab’s Daughters will host their “Illuminating Human Trafficking" Annual Gala virtually on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 pm to celebrate their survivors. Speakers will share powerful stories about surviving human trafficking and thriving. This is a FREE event, but registration is required. A number of sponsorship opportunities are available. Drive-In Concert at Barrington Metra Lot Oct. 30
The Village of Barrington will host its second Drive-in Concert on Friday, Oct. 30 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in the Metra North Commuter Lot, 201 S. Spring St., featuring the band Libido Funk Circus. Ticket sales are limited and only vehicles will be allowed (no walk-ins). Up to six people maximum per vehicle, which must be parked in an every-other-space footprint. The Barrington Junior Women's Club (BJWC) will host "The Secret Garden" Virtual Fashion Show on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Guests will enjoy viewing on-trend fashions from Barrington retailers and local boutiques, entertainment, virtual raffles and a live auction experience. The event supports the BJWC Grant Award Program providing scholarships and human service needs for senior citizens, women and children in Barrington and surrounding communities. Individual tickets are $65, or $1000 for a "Secret Garden Watch Party" for 10 featuring a catered lunch, wine, desserts and more. Village of Barrington Hiring Seasonal Support Staff
The Village of Barrington Public Works Department has job openings for Seasonal Support Staff. General duties include snow plowing, salting and hand shoveling, as well as periphery duties as assigned. Hours vary depending on weather conditions.
