UPDATE for April 1, 2020 ~  Get Inspired at Home!

It goes without saying that the unprecedented COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic has had a wide-ranging effect on our way of life. It has upended how we live our lives, our relationships with families and friends, our routines, our businesses, our jobs, our recreation-it has effected everything.

Please read an update on the impact that the pandemic is having on many non-profits from Claremont Heritage Board President, John Neiuber HERE.

We want to keep you informed, but also give you the ability to learn more about our history and cultural heritage.  Below are some fun things you can do from home that include:
  • Create your own film series of movies/TV Shows filmed in Claremont
  • Catch up on your reading!
  • Utilize your knowledge of Claremont mixed with sleuthing skills to solve a Claremont mystery
Enjoy and let us know if you have a mystery that needs solving or if you would like to find out more about Claremont's past.  We look forward to serving you remotely and will be here for you through-out the Pandemic.  Please contact us at [email protected] for any needs you may have.

With warm regards,

Visit Claremont Through the Years... on Film.

A couple of years ago we had writer David Allen come speak about his latest book "On Track".  Before the talk we showed some clips from movies and TV shows that were shot in Claremont.  We are planning to eventually put together a full program that includes clips from many films that show Claremont, but thought that while everyone is staying at home and looking for things to do, why not publish the list we have and let people create their own film series from YouTube or other streaming services.

You can find the list HERE - It starts with the 1921 silent film Charm School starring Wallace Reid.  please let us know if we are missing anything and know of something that should be added.  Please email us at: [email protected] with any suggestions.

Here are some clips from the list for you to enjoy!  Mainly shot at the Claremont Colleges, but with some great scenes in the Village as well.  Have fun!

Claremont Magical Mystery Tour

Ok, who doesn't like a good mystery?  There are signs (no pun intended :-) of our history all around Claremont, from hitching posts to remnants of artesian springs.  But what about the artifacts we come across and don't know their background or story - Maybe you can help! Periodically we will post something that has us stumped, such as this interesting sign found in Webb Canyon...

Please email [email protected] with any information (or urban legend) that you might know about this sign - Or if you have your own mystery question - Thanks!!

Social Media:  Be sure to follow us on  Facebook  and  Instagram    where we will be posting historic trivia and features from our archives that you can enjoy virtually from the comfort of your own home!

Claremont Heritage needs your support now
more than ever!
As the COVID-19 pandemic increases in scope and severity, and to protect our citizens, we have decided to cancel our Annual Awards Gala in May. This event is one of our signature programs, and accounts for almost 1/3 of our annual fundraising. It allows us to raise the funds necessary to support our mission and carry out our work. Without this much needed revenue, we may be unable to continue some of the vital initiatives, such as our Third Grade Local History Program, the Mexican Players Documentary etc. You can help by engaging with us in new and different ways, or by making a donation today.

Will you consider making a donation to offset the lack of revenues? Any amount will help, and is very much appreciated!
