FROM THE NURSE'S CORNER

Thank the Lord that we have had no additional positive cases and no reported Covid symptoms. We pray the Lord uses the knowledge we have gained in the recent weeks and that we will not have to adopt remote learning again. Thank you for your gracious support of this difficult decision.

May you find these highlights helpful for this week:
● Following our fall break, Logic school will resume all classes live and in-person starting October 26.

● All medication, including over-the-counter medication, can only be administered by the school faculty if your child has a prescription from a provider. A parent permission form has to be combined with a provider’s signature. This is a new policy and different from how we have offered over-the-counter medication administration in the past. Please call with any questions regarding this new policy. Please see attached: Medication Authorization Form

● Handwashing remains the primary protection against the spread of germs. Although Covid is spread through airborne contact, keeping other illnesses from spreading will help us sift through common symptoms that we face in the months to come.

● If traveling for your fall break, be mindful upon return. Love on others from a distance. Stay home from school with symptoms and call the school to help navigate through questions and concerns. Covid symptoms overlap other symptoms of the common cold, flu, asthma, seasonal allergies and strep throat. The weight of discernment ultimately falls on the physician’s judgment and diagnosis. It should not require us to fret and worry.

● Individuals who are exposed to Covid (such as living with someone who has tested positive) potentially face a much longer quarantine time than those who are diagnosed and recovered. The specifics can be confusing and case-dependent. I am happy to help you navigate this situation should you find yourself facing this interruption.

● When discerning who quarantines and who doesn’t, the two key factors are time and distance (with or without face coverings). The health department concentrates on contact with an infected individual closer than six feet for longer than 15 minutes at a time. Consider this as you dialogue with others and model diligence in this for your children. Outdoor time, brief encounters in the hallway and transition times are less risky but still important to consider.

● As we head into cooler temperatures….Get your flu shot. Get rest. Hydrate. Exercise. Laugh. Most importantly, pray. We are dependent on Him, and He is listening to our prayers!

FACTS: UPDATING YOUR ACCOUNT

Did you know that FACTS (formerly renweb) is VCA's School Management Software?

Many of us use FACTS to pay tuition each month, but did you know that you can also login to access your child's school information, including Logic/Rhetoric schedules and grades?

With a variety of great school management features, we plan to transition to exclusively using FACTS as our primary student information database. Please take this opportunity to login to your parent portal account and update your information. If you move, change phone numbers or prefer we use a different email, you can make those changes for us.

To login to your account, visit FACTS, enter VERITAS-NC as the district code, and use your email address. If you have never logged in, please click "Create New Family Portal Account." If you are unable to login, please email twoods@veritasnc.org

From the Front Office, we thank you!

GRAMMAR SCHOOL DRESS CODE REMINDER

Now that the weather is turning colder and we’re all pulling out fall and winter wardrobes, it’s a good time to make sure that items are fitting well and in compliance with the dress code.

Please pay special attention to socks, which should be a neutral color (navy, white, brown, gray, tan, black). Also, please check the length of girls’ shorts/skirts/skorts and remember that length guidelines apply even when wearing tights or leggings underneath.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Reed at mreed@veritasnc.org. Thank you for partnering with us in maintaining the dress code.
