Episode 16, May 11, 2020
Hi everyone,

Welcome to Tony's Tap TV. Episode 16. Count em!

Eight weeks! Count them too! Eight weeks of social distancing. "What a world" my dad would have said. But, meanwhile here we are, we are strong, we keep moving and we are trying to stay creative. So, if you're just now joining in, check out the link below to all the past episodes that are now archived. (actually you won't see Episode 15 because I'm having issues editing our website and I'm currently building a brand NEW one. More details on that later.

Anywho, we're starting with a tribute to the legendary Cotton Club Boys & Girls. They were inducted into the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame in 2017.

Meanwhile, I have the next clip from my Tap Basics Instructional Video that is a bit more advanced. It's the second phrase of my double-time sequence that I often perform. So, all you advanced beginners and intermediate level students out there, check it out.

Next we have another Tap Cartoon. Hey you guys! send me these. I'm sure you've kept them like I have.

Finally, at the very bottom, I've included some raw, and rare, footage from a Gala performance to raise money for the American Tap Dance Orchestra at the Cotton Club in 1987. What a night THAT was, right Brenda? Boy do WE have stories!

OK, that's it for now. Until the next one. Keep safe, keep healthy and keep TIME please!

Oh, and see you in the funny papers.

Tony

I'd be really curious if anyone has other footage they can share!

Now check out this link to the 2nd phrase of my double-time sequence which is part of Routine Four extracted from my Tap Basics Video. I do it ALL the time. Recognize it?
Finally, here is an excerpt from the very first fundraising event for the American Tap Dance Orchestra at the Cotton Club. This was in 1987 and it was star-studded! Brenda Bufalino & the ATDO, Charles "Honi" Coles, Charles "Cookie" Cook, James "Buster" Brown, Jimmy Slyde, Gloria Steinem, Dick Cavett, Gwen Verdon, Robert Duval, Bill Irwin, Tommy Tune, Bobby Short, Josephine Premice, the list goes on & on....... I'll never forget dancing along side Gwen!!!!
There are numerous instructional and performance products for purchase available now on-line through Vimeo. This is another way you can support the ATDF in this time of need.

Check them out HERE!

This project was created in a "pay what you can" format, and if you like what you see and if you send us some do re mi, we will consider it a donation. No strings attached. On the other hand, if there's no money, then no problem. Just know that the ATDF appreciates any donation you CAN make large or small, especially now in this crazy new world.

So my friends, keep safe, keep well & in the spirit of tap dance ... PLEASE keep time!
