coffeeCoffee and Conversation with the Dean

As the anniversary of the closure of campus and the move to remote teaching, learning, and working is approaching, we would like to recognize the day and to invite you to join Dean Barbara Crow and your fellow classmates and colleagues for a break and a conversation on Zoom from 10:30-11:30 am (EST) on March 12, 2021. This is meant to be an informal conversation, where we reflect on the past year and look forward to the future. We would like to chat with you about the things that we have come to appreciate even more, the things we have just let go, and the things we have missed the most and look forward to in the future. Please register now and join us!

fireplaceThe Fireplace Series: Timely Teaching for a Globalizing Present and Decolonial Futures

How do we teach now, for a globalizing present and towards decolonial futures? Join Dr. Thashika Pillay (Faculty of Education) and Dr. Beverly Mullings (Geography and Planning), scholars concerned with diasporic and global identities, as they seek common and uncommon ground, in a Fireplace Series chat about teaching in, from, and to the current moment. The Zoom event is scheduled for Friday, March 19 from 10 to 11:30 am EST.

townhallReminder - Town Hall with Dean Barbara Crow and Dr. Wendy Craig

Please join Dean Barbara Crow, Dr. Wendy Craig (Psychology), the Faculty of Arts and Science Senior Leadership Team, and your fellow students, staff, and faculty members for a Town Hall from 3:00-4:30 on Wednesday, February 24.

The Town Hall is intended to be a time for us to check-in with one another, to speak about the impacts of COVID on our community and planning for the future, and to recognize that it is Pink Shirt Day, the annual day when Canadians are asked to take a stand against bullying and to make that stance public by including an article of pink clothing in their ensemble.

Dr. Craig conducted research on the impact of the pandemic on our community this past fall through a series of Thought Exchanges and will present an overview of the results, and along with Dean Crow will take questions and listen to your suggestions on how we can continue to support our people as we navigate the pandemic together.

In addition, Dr. Craig's research focuses on bullying, victimization, healthy relationships, and knowledge mobilization and she examines bullying and victimization from a developmental psychopathology perspective. Not only has Wendy received countless awards and accolades, she is a rock star researcher who has advised Lady Gaga on a bullying prevention project for her Born this Way Foundation and appeared on television with Oprah Winfrey.  She would be happy to answer any questions you might have about her research and experience.

Everyone is welcome at our Town Hall. We would like to listen to you, respond to any questions you may have, and offer you the opportunity to take a stand against bullying and to connect with our community.  We also encourage you to join us in wearing an article of pink clothing.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
