"How Are You Doing?"
Reflections from Heads of School

This year many of you have shared your legitimate concern about your Head of School. The level of stress from this past year's unrelenting challenges has taken a toll on even the most experienced and well supported Heads.

Some Heads of School in California were informally asked by a colleague "How are you doing?" both on a good day and on a not-so-good day. The responses, collated by one of the Heads, provides a candid and insightful account of the impact this year has had on Heads of School. Please take a few minutes to read these remarks. Some are inspiring; some are heartbreaking; all deserve to be acknowledged.

In response, ISCA wants to help you, help your Head. Join us for an upcoming Chair Chat on April 1st, "Strategies for Board Chairs to Help Prevent COVID Related Burnout in Heads of School." Suzi Nance, who has helped hundreds of clients overcome their anxieties and stress, will be our presenter. As a former independent school trustee, she also understands your relationship with the Head and will provide many strategies to help you, help your Head of School
