Join the DC CFAR Basic Sciences Core Virtual Research Day
|
Please register to join the DC CFAR Basic Sciences Core Virtual Research Day on Friday, August 19 from 2:30-5:00 PM ET. This online event will bring together Basic Sciences Core service providers and other Basic Sciences HIV investigators to present their services and research to members of the DC CFAR community. The Virtual Research Day will feature a keynote presentation entitled "HIV-1 Control by Glycosylation" by Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen, Associate Professor of Vaccine and Immunotherapy at the Wistar Institute. Dr. Abdel-Mohsen's talk will be followed by a series of presentations by a DC CFAR Pilot Award recipient and T32 trainees.

Call for Applications! Inter-CFAR Fellowship Program in Implementation Science
|
The Inter-CFAR Implementation Science Working Group and the Mid-Atlantic CFAR Implementation Science Hub are accepting applications for an NIH-funded training opportunity in implementation science (IS) for early-stage investigators (ESIs) engaging in HIV-related research. This year’s Implementation Science Fellows will be selected across the CFAR network, HBCUs, and U.S. Universities to participate in a mentorship program, including both didactic, online, and mentored small group training in IS methodology. Remembering Mr. Edward (Eddy) Jackson from the UAB CFAR
|
It is with deepest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Edward (Eddy) Jackson. Mr. Jackson was the UAB CFAR Delegate to the National CFAR CAB Coalition (N3C) and part of the Inter-CFAR Faith and Spirituality Working Group. Mr. Jackson was a mentor for me in the Faith Spirituality field. He helped guide and develop the N3C Faith and Spirituality Committee. His memory will live on in our work.

FUNDING, TRAINING AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) released a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to identify new opportunities for cure interventions administered during active HIV infection at or near the start of antiretroviral therapy (ART) or as a potential replacement for conventional ART, with the ultimate goal of achieving a sustained ART-free HIV remission.
The Inter-CFAR Implementation Science Working Group and the Mid-Atlantic CFAR Implementation Science Hub are welcoming applications for an NIH-funded training opportunity in implementation science (IS) for early stage investigators (ESIs) engaging in HIV-related research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of AIDS Research (OAR) released the second HIV Stakeholder Outreach and Engagement Report: September 2020-July 2021 which summarizes the process and feedback from NIH OAR listening sessions.
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is hiring a new Chief, Autoimmunity and Mucosal Branch in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation.
