School Crossing Guards Needed
With the recent start of in-person learning at our area schools, the City is looking to quickly fill two school crossing guard positions. Under the general supervision of the Police Captain, the person(s) in this position will provide for the safe movement of school-aged children to and from school in marked school zones. The position would require around two hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the public school year, which runs from now through May. The position will follow the LTISD calendar. If you are interested, or know someone who may be interested, please visit the Human Resources section of our website by clicking here. It also includes information on the full list of duties, along with additional details.
Prevent Excessive Trash Buildup
From our Code Compliance team:

Refreshing fall breezes have already started to displace summer's oppressive heat. For many, it's a great time to clean, organize, landscape and handle other activities the dog days of summer forced to the backburner months ago. This renewed activity produces trash - and lots of it. Do your part to help keep Lakeway clean and beautiful!

Here are five things you can do:

  1. Review your trash pickup policies and schedules.
  2. Place trash containers on the curb the morning of pickup, and put empty. receptacles away by the end of the day.
  3. Respect the limit on how much you are allowed to place at the curb per pickup cycle.
  4. Contact Solid Waste (512-314-7514) to schedule a special pickup of excess trash and/or bulky items.
  5. Remember: When not out for pickup, trash containers must be concealed so they are not visible from the street.

These small steps demonstrate good citizenship, and go a long way toward maintaining Lakeway's enviable image. Thank you for helping keep Lakeway beautiful!
NEW: Virtual National Night Out

National Night Out will be on the evening of Tuesday, October 6. It's an event that helps builds stronger relations within neighborhoods by promoting police-community partnerships. However, it will be celebrated a little differently this year with the ongoing pandemic. Instead of group events, we are encouraging residents to have their own celebrations safely at home this year. There will be a special Facebook Live on the Lakeway Police Department Facebook Page that evening with our Mayor, City Manager and Police Chief, along with other special guests to talk about neighborhood safety, and answer your questions. More details will be released in the coming weeks.
NEW: Repaving Project Starts Soon

Crews will be working on a repaving project starting next week that will freshen up several sections of neighborhood roads. The overlays include several streets like Porpoise Street, S. El Dorado Street and many roadway sections in area cul-de-sacs. Traffic control measures will be in place at the repaving locations, with at least one lane being passable at all times. However, expect some minor delays in these areas while work is being completed. The project should be wrapped up before the end of the month, weather permitting. Click here for maps of the locations where the work will take place.
THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Today on this Patriot Day, we honor and remember those who perished during the September 11th attacks. Click here to read the White House proclamation.

On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, four passenger airliners were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists. Two planes crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, another crashed into the Pentagon, and a fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers thwarted the hijackers. Both World Trade Center towers collapsed as a result of the attack. It resulted in 2,977 fatalities, and over 25,000 injuries. 9/11 is the single deadliest terrorist attack in human history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States, with 343 and 72 killed, respectively. Numerous memorials have been constructed, including the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City, the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington County, Virginia, and the Flight 93 National Memorial at the Pennsylvania crash site.
