Your moment of inspiration 💡 can come from anything a class, a mentor, a friend, a story, an experience, or a trip. You have to be willing to see the potential and courageous 💪 enough to take action.

This is exactly what Nixa grad Abby Voelker did with her business, Abby’s Açaí Co. 😋
Current Covid Numbers Week of 9.14.2020
The district’s new COVID-19 case numbers have been updated at www.nixapublicschools.net/covid19. Please note these are the new cases that we identified as positive during that week.

In addition, due to the increase in cases in the county, the Christian County Health Department is using resources from across the state, so if you are identified as a direct contact the phone call could come from area codes across the state.

Daily Health Check For Students and Staff
To help make sure that you should come to school, we have made a daily health check for you to consult to make sure it is okay to come to school.

Nixa High School Homecoming Events
We have received questions from businesses about sponsorships and donations for our Homecoming dances this weekend. The district does not have a Homecoming dance this weekend due to COVID-19. Anyone asking for donations/sponsorships for a Nixa Homecoming event is not from the school and donations are not tax deductible through the school.

The district canceled the event due to the fact that almost 1,000 students attend the dance and would be in close proximity to each other. We did not want the event to become a situation where COVID-19 was spread, which would lead to the cancellation of other events like our Nixa vs. Ozark football game, the theater production, as well as other athletic and after school activities. The district's goal is to have events in the future by giving up some of the events this fall. However, if the spread in our community continues, future events will also be in jeopardy of being canceled. What we do now impacts the rest of the school year.

The high school is having a dodgeball tournament so students have an activity to participate in, but the attendance is lower and we can make sure students are not in close contact the whole time. We are better able to contact trace with the health department at the dodgeball tournament as well, which would lead to fewer students having to be quarantined if someone is positive at the event.
Nixa Schools Hiring Substitute Teachers
New state standards have temporarily waived the 60-college hour requirement to obtain a substitute certificate.

Subs can anticipate more than $100 each day worked.

For more information and to apply please visit: www.nixapublicschools.net/employment or call 417-724-6270

A valid Missouri substitute teacher certificate from DESE will be required for all applicants.
Friday Night Lights | Senior Night
Tickets for Friday’s football game vs. Neosho will go on sale at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at www.nixaathletics.net/tickets. There will be a limited number of tickets available once they go on sale and we expect the game to sell out very quickly.

NOTE: Nixa fans SHOULD NOT use the visitor entrance. Due to COVID-19, we are working to keep fans separated.

High Pointe Elementary students participated in the fourth annual Summer Reading Program. Over the summer, students continued reading and enjoyed a reward-party when they returned to school. They spent some extra time at recess, were given a book, and enjoyed a snack.
