During the 30th anniversary of
Recovery Month
, communities across the nation will reflect on their positive strides and their plans to make recovery support services more accessible so people can live meaningful and productive lives.
What can prescribers do to make recovery support services more accessible?
- Practice a “whole person” approach to prevention and treatment—meaning caring for an individual’s physical and mental health simultaneously. Visit MACS' education page for trainings and resource page for clinical tools.
- MACS can help. Call 1-855-337-MACS. Our team of addiction consultants support primary and specialty care prescribers in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders and chronic pain management.
September is also Pain Awareness Month. Because of stigma and even shame, people with pain are often afraid to speak up about their experiences. But sharing our stories–whether with loved ones, coworkers, clinicians or policymakers–is essential to creating awareness and positive change. This year, U.S. Pain Foundation is focusing its efforts around the theme, “Let’s Talk About Pain.”

Using Telemedicine to Treat Opioid Use Disorder in Rural Areas
"Evidence from observational studies suggests that telemedicine is an effective tool for treating Opioid Use Disorder, at least until more rural physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants seek and receive waivers from the DEA to prescribe buprenorphine for OUD."
Interested in getting your buprenorphine waiver? Sign up for the
waiver training
on 10/9 or 11/6. Questions after obtaining your waiver? MACS can help.
