Principal's Message

Dear Miramonte Community,

What a Homecoming Week it’s been! Thank you to our Leadership students and teacher for putting together an amazing week that will culminate today and tomorrow with the Homecoming Rally, Game, and Dance. Please encourage your child to join in on the fun and attend these exciting events!

Our district schools are currently in the process of renewing our accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). As part of the process, we are completing an extensive self-study of our curricular and extra-curricular programs to identify strengths and areas of growth. The self-study focuses on five key areas: organization, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and culture. Feedback from the parent community is essential to an effective self-study process, and for helping our staff improve Miramonte in general. Thank you for taking just a few minutes to complete this brief survey about Miramonte High School.

See you tonight at the game and Go Mats!

Parents' Club Message

Dear Miramonte Families,

It's been an exciting week of Homecoming activities planned by our Leadership students, and we hope all students and their families will come out for the tailgate and game tonight and show their Matador spirit. Details for tomorrow night's fun and inclusive Homecoming Dance can be found in the Student News below and on the website (don't forget those comfortable shoes!). Go Mats!

Can you lend a hand? We still need ten more parents or guardians to assist with the Homecoming Dance tomorrow evening. If you can spare a few hours to help out at the dance, please sign up here.

Believe it or not, we have already passed the mid-way point of the first quarter of the school year. As you talk with your students about their classes, remember that many of their electives are funded by our families' donations to ONE-Miramonte. If you haven't had the chance to make your donation yet this year, please consider doing so now. Your donation will touch every student, every day, and we strive for 100% participation from all of our families. Every gift helps!

Enjoy the lovely fall weekend!

Warmly,

Meredith Moss and Corrine Dugan

Chair and President, MHS Parents' Club

October 15 PSAT Proctors Needed - Earn $150

We are looking for proctors for the upcoming PSAT on Saturday, October 15, at Miramonte High School. The hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon.

This is a great opportunity for parents, neighbors, and past MHS graduates who might want to earn $150, so feel free to pass this opportunity along to others who may be interested. Parents of students who are taking this PSAT are not eligible to be a proctor.

If you are interested or have any questions, please email Courtney Gosney - MHS Testing Coordinator to get more information about proctoring. Thank you for considering this!

Miramonte Fundraising

Thank you to the 474 Miramonte families who have donated to ONE-Miramonte this school year! That’s roughly half of all families who have stepped up to support the academic classes and programs that make Miramonte one of the best high schools in the state.

In the coming days, all donors will receive a note of appreciation along with a vinyl window cling to put inside a window to show their support for ONE-Miramonte! If you see a friend or neighbor with one on their car or in a window at home, be sure to thank them for doing their part to provide funds that benefit all 1,182 Miramonte students!

Donate today through the link below if you’d like a window cling! And if you have any questions or didn’t receive a vinyl cling and believe you should have, please email [email protected].

Athletic Boosters Club

Become Part of The Team Behind the Teams!

Miramonte Boosters Club is a critical funding mechanism for Miramonte Athletics. Thanks to member donations, Boosters is able to purchase much-needed equipment, gear, and supplies for all of our athletic teams. More importantly, the club helps pay for the salaries of personnel, such as the athletic trainer and strength/conditioning coach, and the weight room staff.

The school and the teams also depend on the Boosters Club to pay for big-ticket capital purchases such as scoreboards, sports mats, goals, nets, field and gym cameras, and much more. This year, Boosters has committed over $175,000 to our athletic programs and supporting staff.

We seek 100% of families with student-athletes to become part of “The Team Behind the Teams”!

Schedule Changes

The deadline to drop a class without it appearing on the student's transcript is Friday, October 7.

California Scholarship Federation

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is an honor society at Miramonte that acknowledges the high academic achievement of students. Eligibility is determined through a point system based on course load and specific semester grades. Students that have been members for 4 of their last 6 semesters of high school (including one senior year) receive Lifetime Membership. Lifetime Membership is acknowledged with a CSF stole worn at Graduation, plus a certificate and pin at Senior Awards.

  • If you are eligible, the time to register is September 15 - 30. 9th graders are not eligible as they do not have grades yet. Current sophomores may submit grades from the second semester of 9th grade, but that semester does not count toward their 4 semesters of eligibility.
  • To apply and pay dues, please click here during September 15 - 30.

Seniors

  • Counselors are beginning to meet individually with seniors to discuss post-high school plans!
  • Please contact your counselor immediately if you are applying EA or ED to a school.
  • If you are applying to college, you should begin ordering transcripts on the Web Store. On the Web Store, you need to list the name of the college(s) you are applying to completely (ex. University of Oregon; not U of O), but do not need to provide an address.
  • UC and CSU schools do NOT need transcripts ordered unless specifically requested by the school.
  • If you qualify for a testing fee waiver, you are also eligible for a transcript fee waiver. Please approach your counselor with any questions or concerns.
  • Consider attending the Academy college application workshops in the College and Career Center. Students can sign up using TeachMore.

Cal Grant gives funds to every eligible senior who meets the requirements. AUHSD will electronically submit information for every senior in the district to the California Student Aid Commission so they may be considered for a Cal Grant. If you do not wish to have your student’s information submitted electronically, please complete the opt-out form with our school registrar, Kyley Jacobs, by Wednesday, September 28.

Miramonte Sports News

Girls Water Polo

Legendary Miramonte water polo coach Bill Brown and Olympic Gold medalist Heather Petri helped establish the girls water polo program in 1994. After graduating from Miramonte in 1996, Petri played at UC Berkeley and then competed in four consecutive Olympic Games, winning a gold medal in 2012. The year prior to the girls water polo program’s formal establishment, there were around a dozen girls playing with the boys team. Now under the leadership of head coach John Roemer and assistant coach Tony Tovani, the Miramonte girls varsity team is looking to pull off another perfect season. As one of the most successful scholastic sports programs in the country, the Lady Mats concluded last season with an undefeated record, an NCS title, and a state championship.

The first league game was on Wednesday, September 21, against Campo at home, and the varsity girls caged the Cougs, winning 16-8! Miramonte fans showed up in huge numbers and cheered loudly for the Mats. The girls head out this weekend to play at the Woodcreek Invitational Tournament in Roseville. Follow them on Instagram @matswwp for updates.

Come cheer on the Lady Mats at their next league game on Thursday, September 29, at Acalanes (JV @4pm, varsity @5pm).

Mats Football - Skills Clinic

The Orinda M Club is hosting a one-day Football Skills Clinic for middle school students. Learn from Coach Schram and his winning players. All local students in grades 6-8 are invited to attend on Monday, September 26, 4:00-5:30 p.m. Meet at the Miramonte Football Stadium and bring athletic shoes and a water bottle. This clinic is free.

Boys Lacrosse - Captains' Practice

Come out to meet the boys and see what Mats Boys Lacrosse is all about at our Captains' practice on Sunday, September 25, 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Miramonte.

Mats Wrestling - Open Mat Practice

We are hosting optional preseason open mat practices in the small gym for anyone interested in wrestling this year. All are welcome. No experience is necessary. Click here for more information.

Wear athletic clothes and wrestling shoes if you have them (not required). Bring a water bottle.
