Funding Opportunity - Open for RFP
Community Wealth Building Pilot Program

The City of Chicago launched a $15M pilot program to create opportunities for low-income residents to build wealth through shared asset ownership - the Community Wealth Building Pilot Program. There is a pre-submission conference on September 29th from 1 to 2 PM; the submission deadline is November 1st, 2022.

Operating under the auspices of the Office of Equity & Racial Justice (OERJ) and the Department of Planning & Development (DPD), the program promotes local and shared ownership and control of community assets, focusing on four CWB models: worker cooperatives, limited-equity housing cooperatives, community land trusts, and community investment vehicles. Grantees will provide services in one of six categories: (1) Education & Outreach; (2) Business Development; (3) Legal & Governance; (4) Financing & Fundraising; (5) Assets & Operations; and (6) Research & Advocacy.

NorthSide Latin Progress Could Use Your Help

NWCC Member Northside Latin Progress' mission is to promote self-sufficiency among immigrant men, many who were skilled tradespeople in their home countries. NSLP assists with securing employment and acclimation to day-to-day in a foreign environment. Providing employment is vital, and NSLP would appreciate receiving notices of available job openings from local restaurants, businesses, and industries.

Gretchen Moore, Director of NSLP, recently interacted with men bussed to Chicago from Texas, and works on an ongoing basis with others from Central and South America. Chicago weather is challenging, and donations of used work clothing and gear are greatly appreciated:
  • Work & Winter gear: Hiking and work boots, blue jeans/work weight pants, jackets, long underwear, sleeping bags, and bicycles.
  • Donations can be taken to St. Bart's School - 4933 W. Patterson Avenue on weekdays from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Items cannot be left outside - Ring bell, and staff will respond and point the way to "Gretchen's Space."
  • Donations can be left at Morrie's Accounting - 1917 N Kedzie Avenue on weekends and evenings.
