IUMAA Student Advisory Committee

IUMAA aims to better serve the campus by working closely with a Student Advisory Council of undergraduate students.Council members meet regularly to develop ways the museum can better engage the campus community through events and the promotion of other student opportunities at IUMAA. If you're interested in joining the council (or know a student who may be) applications are due September 9, 2022.

Moving into New Technology

Along with moving in and preparing artifacts for storage, building exhibits, and setting up offices and work spaces, IUMAA staff and students are integrating new technology in exhibits, education, and collections work.

Quilts + Identity: Create Your Own Square for IUB Quilt

Become part of the worldwide quilting tradition by creating a quilt square that represents you and submitting it to IUMAA to become part of a campus quilt. As part of Themester 2022: Identity and Identification we're creating a quilt to represent IU Bloomington, and you can use one of the templates from the program's website to create your own square.

Event: Coffee and Curators--Cold Sourced and Cold Brewed

Thursday, August 18, at 3 p.m. (Eastern)

Over the past 10,000 years, native copper has been transported from deposits in the Lake Superior Basin across the continent, making its way into archaeology sites like Angel Mounds and beyond. This free online 20-minute talk by Ryan Peterson, IUMAA Research Fellow, will provide a brief introduction into sourcing copper using trace element and lead isotope analysis.
