Earlier this week (August 19, 2019), City Council voted 6 to 1 to adopt an objective for deer management to actively manage the impact of the herd. The program will include educating the public on deer management solutions, taking an annual deer census, conducting town halls and a community survey, and collecting, analyzing and reviewing data on the deer population. Additionally, there will be a push to educate and enforce the current ordinance pertaining to not feeding the deer. City Council voted to finalize the program plan by January 2020, while also continuing the suspension of the TTP (trap, transport, process) program until January 31, 2020. The Wildlife Advisory Committee will be looking for input from the community to help facilitate program details. Expect a town hall and survey this coming fall.
