Lakeway City Manager News
Lakeway City Council voted Monday evening to accept the resignation of Steve Jones. Jones has served the City of Lakeway as City Manager since April 2005. “Steve made a big impact on the community of Lakeway during his 14 years as City Manager,” said Mayor Sandy Cox. “We appreciate his commitment to our residents and staff over that time and wish him well for the future.” Assistant City Manager Julie Oakley was named Acting City Manager during the same meeting Monday night. City Council will search for an interim City Manager and explore options for hiring a firm to conduct a formal search for a candidate to fill the position.

Deer Management Program Update
Earlier this week (August 19, 2019), City Council voted 6 to 1 to adopt an objective for deer management to actively manage the impact of the herd. The program will include educating the public on deer management solutions, taking an annual deer census, conducting town halls and a community survey, and collecting, analyzing and reviewing data on the deer population. Additionally, there will be a push to educate and enforce the current ordinance pertaining to not feeding the deer. City Council voted to finalize the program plan by January 2020, while also continuing the suspension of the TTP (trap, transport, process) program until January 31, 2020. The Wildlife Advisory Committee will be looking for input from the community to help facilitate program details. Expect a town hall and survey this coming fall.

Prepare Now for National Night Out
National Night Out is an annual community event that promotes police and resident partnerships. It also promotes neighborhood camaraderie to create a safer, more caring community. In Lakeway, National Night Out will take place Tuesday, October 1. This night will be a great opportunity to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, while maintaining a true sense of community. The event also provides a time to bring police and neighbors together under non-emergency circumstances so they have a chance to interact and get to know each other.

To register a block party for a visit, please contact Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Director  Mike Conley  with an estimated headcount of guests and what time you would like to schedule an officer visit.
