Greetings! Eight weeks ago, Governor Cuomo announced a "Stay in Place" order, which meant all but one of our mental health facilities would close their doors forcing Astor to pivot the way we deliver services to over 10,000 children and their families. And we did. Not only have we provided over 20,790 tele-mental health services to date, but we've also enrolled 473 new clients. And, like most nonprofits, we were forced to postpone and/or cancel our spring and summer fundraising events, knowing full well how much we rely on the human connections, the storytelling moments, the experiences, only an in-person event can bring.

However, throughout these eight weeks, we have seen some of the most beautiful acts of humanity; from a "Heroes at Work" sign placed in front of our Residence honoring our front-line workers, to a local bike shop donating bikes and scooters to our Recreation department, to a local toy store donating games and toys, to our Head Start staff organizing a food drive for their students in need. These acts have reminded us that with the help of our community we will keep moving forward and our future beyond COVID-19 is bright. We are reaching out to you today, in the hopes you too see how bright Astor's future is and how we can prepare to come out of this "Stay in Place" order stronger than ever.
