Tragic Loss of Deputy Jeffrey McKee
March 28: An off-duty traffic collision claimed the life of Deputy Jeffrey McKee last Sunday. The 14-year LASD veteran was assigned to the Inmate Reception Center and is survived by his wife and two children. PPOA extends sincere condolences to the McKee family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Meeting with Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner
March 30: PPOA representatives took part in a Zoom video conference with Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel to discuss proposed policy revisions. Meeting participants from PPOA included Executive Director Wayne Quint Jr. and Labor Representative Teresa O'Neil.
Supporting Fitness for PPOA Members
March 30: In a continuing effort to support members, PPOA's Star & Shield Foundation teams up with New Life Cardio Equipment (NLCE) each year to secure a limited number of treadmills and ellipticals for employee gyms. The machines are purchased by the Star & Shield Foundation at discounted pricing and delivered by PPOA to units in need of new exercise equipment. This week, Board Member Henry Jimenez and PPOA staff members delivered a treadmill to the gym at Parks Bureau Headquarters. PPOA has also arranged for NLCE to extend special pricing to any PPOA member interested in purchasing cardio equipment for personal use at home. Meet and Confer re: Involuntary Transfer Protocols
March 31: PPOA representatives had a teleconference with representatives from Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau (FCCB), Community College Bureau, Employee Relations and LASD personnel to discuss involuntary transfer protocols for Crime Analysts at FCCB. The discussion was focused on seniority issues as well as Bargaining Unit 621 contract language. Meeting participants from PPOA included President Tab Rhodes, Board Member Jim Blankenship, Executive Director Quint and Labor Representative O'Neil.
