2022
What’s New for the 2022 Healthcare Benefit Year

New ID Cards
The healthcare benefit year begins January 1, 2022. If you have a copay change, your health plan administrator will mail you a new ID card in the next few weeks. Starting on January 1, present this ID card to your doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. Deductible and out-of-pocket maximums reset on January 1 and accumulate until you’ve reached the plan maximums. See your health plan handbook for details.

Emergency Room Copay Change
For employees who don’t already have a $150 emergency room copay, the ID card reflects an ER copay change effective with the new plan year. If you have non-emergency needs, consider visiting a retail clinic or using your telehealth benefits. Many urgent care centers also have lower out-of-pocket costs. See your plan administrator’s website or call their customer service line to find participating urgent care centers in your area before you need urgent care.

Acupuncture Visit Limit Increase
Effective January 1, 2022, acupuncture visit limits will increase to 30. This visit limit matches your chiropractic benefits.

Find out when accessing telehealth makes sense, why it’s convenient, and the services included.

4) How to access in-network benefits across the United States if you are enrolled in a PPO - using in-network providers saves you money on deductible and other out-of-pocket costs. Employees enrolled in any of edHEALTH’s PPO options can visit in-network doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers throughout the United States. This benefit is particularly helpful for remote workers and dependent students residing out of the area. Find out how to locate in-network providers in your area.
5) How to reduce out-of-pocket medical costs using your carrier’s portal
Before you seek non-critical health care service, such as visiting a specialist, getting a MRI or CT scan, and planning for surgery or an inpatient admission, price your options to save money and help with budgeting. Find out how to use your carrier’s online portal to cut out-of-pocket costs:
