Farewell to Our Friend, Adam

For the last eight years, Resurrection Parish has had the joy of Adam Trudel living and serving in our midst. In more recent years, since becoming a collaborative, Saint Paul Parish has also shared in the joy of Adam. Sadly, Adam’s delightful presence among us ends this weekend as he and his beautiful family of his wife, Celeste, sons Nikolai, Johann, and a Trudel to be named later, will be moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Adam has been a great blessing to our community. Added to that blessing is the privilege of seeing Adam’s 9 year old son Nikolai grow up and, one year ago, welcoming his baby brother Johann.

Adam is an extremely talented man. It seems like he can do just about anything from repairing cars to installing bathrooms to electronics of all sorts. The Lord has given him great intelligence and skills which he uses so well for God’s glory and the care of God’s people.

Adam became a Catholic after being raised in the Oneness Pentecostal Community. It was his understanding of, and faith in, the mystery of the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit that brought Adam to Catholicism. With his great intelligence, Adam deftly articulates the Catholic faith and actively evangelizes. He is a great gift to the Catholic community.

Most of us know Adam best as the musician. His skill with both strings and keyboards, along with his pleasing voice are a great combination with which to proclaim the faith. Resurrection Parish is well known for beautiful and inspiring music with Adam in the lead.
For those of us who have had the joy of knowing him personally as a friend and/or colleague, Adam is simply an outstanding Christian gentleman whom we all love. Musicians have a special way of touching the hearts of worshippers, and Adam has certainly done that for our community. Adam has also touched us personally with his goodness, kindness, faith and sense of humor.

Adam’s departure is a great loss for us. At the same time, we are grateful for having known him. We offer our prayers and best wishes to Adam and his family as they head to Fort Wayne. God bless you, Adam, Celeste, Nikolai and Johann and thank you for the beautiful blessing you have been to our parishes.

COVID-19 UPDATE FROM OUR PARISHES:

Collaborative Status
Since our last communication regarding a positive test result at our October 4th Life Teen Mass, we were made aware of a second positive case. All in close contact were made aware and asked to quarantine.

Town of Hingham
As a rule of thumb, the Town of Hingham Board of Health requires that anyone exposed to someone with a positive COVID-19 test result must quarantine for 14 days. A negative test result does not negate the quarantine as symptoms may be felt as late as the 13th or 14th day. Close contact is defined by the CDC as being within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more.

Archdiocese of Boston Protocols
It was announced on Wednesday, October 14th that Hingham had moved into the "red zone". This brings additional guidelines for parishes in that category. When Mass or any other event is held indoors, temperatures of all people must be taken before they enter the church. Anyone with a temperature of greater than 100.4 F should not be admitted. Also, in person Faith Formation should not be held during weeks in the red zone.

Next Bible Study Session: PETER
Begins October 19th on Monday Evenings or Thursday Mornings on ZOOM

Peter’s life appears, on the surface, to have been rather ordinary. He was a devout first-century Jew who spent his life as a fisherman, growing up in the village of Bethsaida on the northern shore of the Sea Galilee, and later moving west along that shore to the town of Capernaum. He was by no means especially wealthy, powerful, or socially well-connected. The story of such a man could very easily have gone unnoticed and forgotten by the passing of centuries. But one encounter, one act of trust, would entirely change the ordinary course of Peter’s life. This once simple fisherman would become a disciple of Jesus Christ, head of the Apostles, spiritual father over Christ’s Church , preacher to Jews and Gentiles both in his homeland and in the capital city of the empire, author of two letters of the Bible (1 & 2 Peter), and a martyr who would end his life on this earth giving the ultimate witness to his Lord’s teaching and resurrection.
Fr. Matt is organizing a procession for All Souls Day, Monday, November 2, at Saint Paul's Cemetery on Hersey Street. We will begin at 8 PM so that people may attend the 7 PM Mass at Resurrection. The procession will be candlelit and will include prayers for the dead. Let us come together on this solemn day to pray for the souls of our brothers and sisters who have gone before us. More details to follow.
