ANNOUNCEMENTS
Middle School youth did a scavenger hunt!

The Middle School youth did a virtual scavenger hunt on Zoom! We also discussed what devotional time is and each youth made a plan for how they could practice tuning into God this week.
Summer 2020 Trips

Unfortunately, this pandemic has affected numerous milestones and events which extends to HBPC Youth as well. Due to the pandemic and uncertainty with travel we are taking our best measures to make sure that our students are safe. We are saddened to say that our 2020 Summer Trips have been canceled. We are thankful for the students that have signed up for these trips and are hopeful for when we will be able to meet and travel together again. We are using this time to think of fun activities and alternatives for when we return to meeting again.

Senior Zoom Call

On Sunday April, 26 our 5 graduating high school seniors had a special Zoom call with surprise guests of previous college age Hodges youth group alumni. The Zoom call was full of laughter, questions, college tips and post-graduation plans.
May-July Activities

All youth events are still postponed, however our plan for Summer 2020 is for youth to continue to gather on Zoom and possibly physically again with social distancing measures. We will meet two times per month for bible study. We will also plan to offer a fellowship event as well as a mission activity monthly for youth to participate in.

Virtual Event!!!
Graduate Sunday Celebration!
Sunday, May 31

Typically, this event is where we would recognize our high school senior graduates in the 9:00 and 11:00 am Worship services and present them with a graduation gift. Since this may not be possible in the physical sense, we are hoping to put together a virtual opportunity to celebrate our seniors. If we are able to gather together again sooner then we could also do the Graduate Sunday in person as well. Please look for a special link on the Sunday service where we will celebrate our 5 Seniors: Lizzie Robinson, Victoria Ross, Han Gil Kim, Ben McVaney, and Sarah Alderman . Join us as we celebrate them and their journey as young adults in our forever faith family!
Attention Senior Parents! Check your emails for full details!

We are making a senior video to help honor and recognize your 12th graders on Sunday, May 31 (The new date for HBPC Graduate Sunday).

Would you please email us 4-5 photos of your senior and their response to three questions as well? Deadline is Monday, May 18.

Guidelines:
  • Ideally one of these is a baby photo
  • One of them should be their “senior” photo (whatever they want this to mean)
  • If you have any of them at HBPC that would be wonderful

3 Questions:
  • Favorite memory at Hodges?
  • What are your plans after graduation? (i.e. college major or trade school etc.)
  • What is a quote or scripture that inspires or reminds you of your senior year?

RESOURCE OF THE MONTH
Grief is the pain of loss – any type of loss. It can be the loss of loved ones, a job, opportunity or any number of things. Right now, teenagers are facing tremendous loss: loss of routine, physical relationships, sports seasons, musicals, dances and many other experiences. This is especially true for our graduating 8 th  graders and seniors. There’s a potential that graduation is going to look drastically different for them and many of their “lasts” have been taken away from them.

Of course, as adults, we know that perspective is helpful through crisis. As parents we know our teenagers aren’t living their best life now. However, that doesn’t mean our teens aren’t losing a good portion of the experiences that help shape them into adulthood. As our teens are navigating this loss, now is a great time to solidify our voices in their lives and help walk them through it. This article provides seven steps to help your teens through this pandemic (or any) crisis.
