NOVEMBER 2016
Hello Fellow LHS Alums,

With fall upon us, the Holidays can't be far behind. With that in mind, we will be hosting an Alumni Association Welcome Tent at the Lowell High School Thanksgiving Day Football Game at Cawley Stadium. Drop by and say hello, and enter a drawing to win some cool Lowell High School Alumni Swag. Also, see more information below about our Fall young alumni mixer coming up on November 29th.

And speaking of swag, we would like to congratulate several recent contest winners. Diana Echavarria (class of 2008) and Betsy O'Brien-McKeon (class of 1974) won our first two "Throwback Thursday" Facebook contests. Nancy Viega (class of 1975), won our raffle basket at the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce Expo.  Check out our Facebook page for more upcoming contests.

Take care,
Caroline (Petruzziello) Rider - Class of 1983

Alumni Spotlight: Sovanna Pouv
From rebellious teen to Executive Director of the CMAA (Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association), Sovanna has taken an interesting path since he graduated from LHS in 1999. With a degree in graphic design and marketing from Middlesex Community College, and a young family to support, he was able to secure an administrative job at UTEC (United Teen Equality Center) with the help of the CMAA.  All of his experiences ignited a passion for serving others, which eventually led him back to the CMAA, where he works tirelessly to serve the entire Lowell community.

Advice to his younger self
He would tell himself not to skip school, and also to push back harder on guidance counselors who told him he should just stick to college level classes and not to take any honors courses.

Advice for Current LHS Students
Treat each other as family and embrace all of the wonderful diversity that is around them. Check out the clubs and sports and arts - there are so many new and interesting things at LHS for the students to explore.

ABOUT US
The Alumni Relations Program is a collaboration between Project LEARN, The Greater Lowell Community Foundation and the Lowell Public School System. It is funded in part by the "$100k for 100" grant from the Cummings Foundation. Our goal is to invite the alumni to work with new and existing programs within the schools to help make the academic experience better for all students as well as to provide tangible benefits to alums and current students.
