Patronicity crowdfunding campaign to help businesses adapt and thrive in our Main Streets district and community as we recover and reopen.
Funds from the campaign will be used to:
- partner with local designers, businesses, and residents to develop and implement a vision to transform underutilized spaces into community assets
- provide technical and financial assistance so employees, residents, and visitors can benefit from practical outdoor dining spaces that are safe, beautiful, and inviting
- obtain materials and signage to support health, safety, and sanitation
- provide spaces that are accessible to people of all ages and abilities
- increase greenery and beautify our urban environment
- and more!

Admin Tax Relief Measures for Businesses
|
|
The State announced additional administrative tax relief measures for local businesses, especially in the restaurant and hospitality sectors. This tax relief builds upon previous similar tax extensions and includes postponing the collection of regular sales tax, meals tax, and room occupancy taxes for small businesses that would be due from March through August, so that they will instead be due in September. Additionally, all penalties and interest that would otherwise apply will be waived.
Businesses that paid less than $150,000 in regular sales plus meals taxes in the year ending February 29, 2020 will be eligible for relief for sales and meals taxes, and businesses that paid less than $150,000 in room occupancy taxes in the year ending February 29, 2020 will be eligible for relief with respect to room occupancy taxes.
For businesses with meals tax and room occupancy tax obligations that do not otherwise qualify for this relief, late-file and late-pay penalties will be waived during this period.

Tech Goes Home for Small Business Workshop Series
The Kirstein Business Library and Innovation Center at the Boston Public Library will offer a workshop series b
eginning August 11th, which will run for 6 weeks, Tues & Thurs. 4-5:30.
What is Tech Goes Home for Small Business?
Check it out here.. In an effort to help bridge the digital divide for entrepreneurs who don’t have access to a computer, Kirstein is partnering with Tech Goes Home which will provide a
free Chromebook for participants who attend our class. We introduce them to government and other free resources to help them on their journey to establish their business. We will also review business research and other resources available through Kirstein Business Library & Innovation Center.
We are hoping for 12 very early stage/tech challenged entrepreneurs. Participants are expected to already be familiar with computers at a basic competency level (know how to use a mouse, navigate a web page).
